iPhone pre-order

I went to the app for apple using my iPhone and setup express checkout on 9/13/12. I made sure that all of the info was correct and then signed off the app. I set my alarm for 3:01a.m. (EST) When I woke up I went onto the app because the Apple website was still saying, "We'll be right back!" from the app I was able to click the buy now option. I selected the 32GB white iPhone accepted the terms and conditions and my grandfathered unlimited data plan was already pre-selected for me so I hit the continue button and heard my email "bing" with confirmation for a ship date of 9/21/12. I was done by 3:06 and too excited to sleep after. Glad I setup the express checkout! Totally worth being groggy for work! Lol! :D

I pre-ordered my iPhone from the verizon website at 5:30 am and it showed 9/21 for the ship date, but on the check order status page on verizon it shows "we've recieved your order and it is in proccess. expected ship date 9/26/2012." I still havent got a confirmation email giving me any more information on my order. Will the shipment date change back to 9/21?

This is kind of nonsense. I ordered a 64gb and got a prosessing email at 3:53am with a Delivers 9/21 quote. Then later during the day it got pushed on my order status on line (still 'processing') to Oct 5. How does ordering within a certain time window effect stock levels. I REALLY doubt that the 64s were in as high demand as the smaller models, granted I will say they most likely did not allocate as many units of the higher capacity models as the 32's and 16's. I dont believe the "rep" you spoke with knew what they are talking about.

All in all I am expecting this order status to go back to Sept 21 within a few days...

i too am confused... I ordered at 1:05am PDT (so 1:05 after ordering started)... my status earlier today said delivery by Oct 5th - now, it says Oct 2nd... How is it that I was 20 minutes after the cutoff quoted earlier and I don't get my phone until 12 days after the lucky ones in the first batch?

<<< Lucky one in the first batch.

Apple order confirmation received at 3:31am. The only date I have seen on any email, order status page, etc. is 9/21.

Anyone got any kind of scoop on cases?

Ordered around 3:20am East, and still waiting for "preparing for shipping" still stuck at "Order being processed"

I hate being impatient haha

STATUS JUST CHANGED! "Preparing for Shipment - 9/21" I can rest easy now! - .... Well, just need to figure out where to go to get a case. Hopefully they dont sell out of those first day haha.

Radio Shack FTW

Missed the first wave of Apple pre-orders by about 30 minutes and got the 2 week delayed shipping - by mid morning this was really bothering me and had decided to cancel and take my chances with standing in line at the Apple store on the 21st so I cancelled my pre-order. On a whim I stopped by the Radio Shack outside my neighborhood this evening at about 8:00 PM and they were accepting pre-orders with expected availability for 9/21. The clerk said they hadn't been able to confirm 9/21 but that they could guarantee pickup would be available by 9/22 at the latest. I made a point to clarify that by placing a pre-order I would have a phone waiting for me and that I wouldn't just be putting my name in a first-come, first-serve pool of whatever small stock arrived on the 21st. (I had called Best Buy earlier and this was how their pre-orders worked.) He advised phones were reserved on a 1:1 basis and would be held up to 3 days for those who pre-ordered.

Better still, the way they handle pre-orders is this: you put $50 down on a gift card that you get to keep with you until launch day and they give you a receipt to reserve your purchase. The reservation doesn't lock up your upgrade eligibility, so if I call later in the week and they still haven't confirmed they're getting a shipment, I can take my chances camping out in line at the Apple store and get my discounted iPhone there. If I get a phone at the Apple store, I can use the RS gift card for a couple of lightning adapters and let someone else have the pre-order. Otherwise, I've got the pre-order at Radio Shack to fall back on, which shouldn't take 3 weeks to arrive regardless of whether it's there on the 21st or not.

If you order an iPhone at Apple.com are you presented with different shipping options (2nd day, overnight)?

I ordered at 7am EST, black 64GB. I haven't talked to anyone but I would expect to receive it next Friday, worst case the following Friday. Strange nobody else's has changed to "Pending".

that is the exact same time that i ordered....the money is already pending to be removed from my account is yours too?......

What do you mean reservation?

Masterful Precision? Really? A keyboard and mouse don't require that much precision.

No, no it doesn't. However, being available at 3:00AM EDT is all it took. If you couldn't be there then (and everyone knew that it would be a HUGE deal to be there or you would have to wait, based on the 4s and 4, as well as 3 and 3s sales) you weren't going to be able to get it shipped on the first day.

I had to teach at 7AM, set an alarm, was up at 2:45, took all of 5 minutes at 3, had the processing email by 3:09. then was back in bed. Took all of 30 minutes from time of wake-up and was back asleep. Not too bad, nor too hard to do.

Therefore, I don't understand why the people that ordered at 3:30, 4:00 AM are complaining that their orders are slipped back. I ordered off of the Apple Store at 3:05AM EDT and had no problem, no lag, it's currently preparing for shipping and will be delivered 9/21. Not too hard to accomplish.

Shipping date changes

I went through this the last time with the 4s. The reason the pre-orders go to a two week wait time in shipping so quickly is that the first batch to each carrier goes to the stores for direct sale to walk-ins or wait-in-line people, depending on the demand. So the bulk of the pre-order customers will have steam coming out of their ears when their co-worker or next door neighbor walks into a store on the first day and picks one up while they wait another week or two for their phones. These carriers are just locking in as many customers as possible. There is no customer loyalty. I'm not in a rush this time, but I had the fever last time and really got angry about the lies and double talk AT&T gave me. My 4s experience was that there were few or small lines on the first day. So if you want one and haven't pre-ordered yet, you might want to go that route. No gaurantees, but the pre-order que is probably worse at this point. Of course, once the first batch is gone, then the pre-orders get filled and the wait for the next shipment in the stores will be very long (6 weeks or so on the 4s if I remember correctly). So pick your poison. LOL

Email from Apple re: AppleCare

Anyone else get an iPhone Friday morning through the Apple Store App, then get an email this morning saying that an option to purchase AppleCare was not provided at the time of purchase, but if you respond to the email you will be able to purchase AppleCare before delivery on September 21? See below....

FYI, my iPhone 5 status has moved to "Preparing for Shipment" stage in the AppleStore for Sept 21 delivery.

Same here. Got the email and my iPhone 5 status is preparing for shipment. Will they send them out today or will they wait until Monday? Does anyone know if the warehouse works weekends?

Has anyone said it yet?

Thread title = white people problems ?

Lol

People are starving and we have to wait 2 weeks for our new gadget

Aloha!

12:01 am in California is only 9:01 pm the previous day here in Hawaii, so on the 13th, I got my iPhone 5 AND a good night's sleep.

And if it's anything like what happened with my girlfriend's iPhone 4S last year, it may get here a day early.

still processing

I ordered a white 16GB iphone 5 at 2:14 AM CST and my order says processing and the delivery date still says 9/21. I hope it moves along like everyone else's.

Just adding here that I reserved mine on rogers, and was given #1255 (that was Friday morning). Looked now its #374! I think I am in luck! :)

I visited my AT&T store on Thursday. He took all my information and credit card and pre-ordered my 64gb Iphoone 5 before the store opened Friday. I got all the confirmation emails. When I get it I get it. I was more concerned that my grandfathered data and text plans and my discount were included. He seemed to think that the fact that I ordered the 64gb would help me get it quicker. We'll see.

But the are many many families out there who need 4, 5, 6 new phones.
Did you just seriously claim that "many many families" are spending anywhere from $2800 to $4200 on a single cell phone purchase? In what sort of Beverly Hills bubble do you live?

Has your iPhone 5 shipped yet?

I still have the "Preparing for Shipment" status on Apple.com since Friday night. I am hoping I get an email soon that says its been shipped with my tracking information. I ordered at 3:08am EST on Friday. Anyone, has your phone shipped yet?
