What do you mean reservation?

Masterful Precision? Really? A keyboard and mouse don't require that much precision.

In and out of the App Store with a new iPhone by 3:01am is masterful. Anyone who went to the Main Web Store or Vendor site, clearly is a rookie.

did anyone order thru at&t premier? I ordered thru the site about 4am pacific time this morning, and got my confirmation email this morning. although it says "Thank you for your purchase from the Premier Online Store. We're pleased with your choice of AT&T as your wireless service provider.

Your iPhone has been reserved and should arrive as soon as Sept 21, 2012"

when i check the "status of my order" i get preorder processing...anyone else in the same boat as me? i wonder when the status will change? any ideas?

That isn't true. I had to go to through the apple store because of my gift card, something you can't do on the App, would have had it much earlier then 3:39 AM. While you can be "masterful" doesn't mean every route is perfectly laid out. Server errors, peoples internet connection. Congrats on spot though! I am more then excited to develop on the new iPhone. One thing I've noticed with the SDK is that in the past we used to have an issue with Keyboard overlaying textboxes. Taller phone = less of a problem

That is what i did. My order is now showing up as being processed on the AT&T Premier website. But they don't give an exact ship date, nor did i get a confirmation email yet.

When I first ordered thru the App Store last night, they made a reservation for me because they couldn't contact AT&T. An hour later I received an email asking me to complete the purchase.

Ahhh. Must have missed that reading the forums today. Doesn't help being in IT with 4 hours of sleep :(

Yeah, I have the same. but, i ordered at 7am PDT. - Only reason I ordered then was because between 12am and 2am i just could not get through on the website. it was ridiculous.

Im not sure what "premier" is? i never signed up for it, but thats what I got. and it said "iPhone reserved...should arrive as soon as Sept. 21."

... but yeah, i checked order status on att website, and there's nothin!

I went to my local Best Buy today and reserved my phone with a $50 deposit. Hopefully that will save me some time when I go to pick it up and get it activated. :)

Ok guys thanks for the input ...if anything changes let me know and i will do the same for you....if i remembe correctly when i purchased my iphone 4 on lauch day thru the premier site it didn't show up on the at&t website until a couple days after...

I wish I had a dollar for every doubt I have heard expressed over an apple product over the past decade. Regardless of doubt over demand or over how useful a product would be, the doubters have been wrong 99% of the time.

I had my doubts about the iPod when it first came out. I bought one three years later. Bought my second one the next year (a nano). It completely changed how I listen to music.

I had my doubts about the iPhone when it came out. I had a lot of beliefs about smartphones, and how this wasn't going to appeal to the sorts of people who like smartphones. Sure enough, I bought the iPhone 3G. I underestimated how Apple was going to create a brand new market for a brand new kind of smartphone.

When the iPad was announced. I wasn't going to make the same mistake as I had before. I didn't particularly like tablets, I didn't particularly see the appeal of the iPad, but I wasn't going to doubt Apple's capability to sell it to people that had no idea they wanted a tablet until it came out. I haven't bought one yet, but the reaction to it did not surprise me. I'm still waiting for some indeterminate combination of thinner/lighter/faster/cheaper, that hasn't quite come along yet. When it does, though, I won't hesitate.

At this point, it's pretty crazy to bet against Apple. I'm sure they'll have a flop eventually. Arguably that's what the Apple TV is, but Apple is smart enough to know it's just a hobby for them, not a real market. If something big happens over there, though, I'm not going to be one of those people saying it's bad and won't possibly sell.

See any iPhone 5 cases while you were there, or did they say anything about cases being available and when?

There is no way they got more orders for the 5 then they did for the 4 for pre-order in the first hour! If you believe that your on some serious Apple Koolaid!

This is Apple creating the illusion that its super popular, and demand outweighs the supply. Meaning that they all sold out in the first hour means they limited the stocks to create this. Kudos to Tim Cook, he is a sales guy.

Personally I think its a stupid move, This phone is now where ahead of the competition like the iphone 4 was, this old strategy will result in people who are on the fence jumping to another product. Apple got it right with the Ipad by providing sufficient supply at launch, if we are moving back to Chinese scalpers snapping up phones.....fark that! I am seriously tired of seeing scalpers outside apple stores buying all the allocation everyday to send overseas and denying actual customers form whom the product was intended for.

This is the first time since the original Iphone that I am serious considering cancelling my pre-order. I'll pop into an Apple store next week, and see what it does for me, but its just lacking the wow factor, and now with this Supply games... seriously contemplating saying stuff it. And I am a huge Apple fan, with every iphone they launched and over a dozen apple products at home at the moment.

No, Tim Cook is not a sales guy. He's a logistics guy. Meeting demand with supply is his thing, not cheap marketing gimmicks. His speciality is in managing an efficient supply chain for parts and products. Apple knows demand is going to outstrip supply no matter how many units they can reasonably make in a short amount of time, but they do the best they can to get as close as possible. There is no downside from selling as many units as possible, there is plenty of downside to selling fewer units than they otherwise could.

Wait a few days, see what the announced figures are. This was their fastest rollout yet. I have no doubt about it they sold quicker than the 4S, precisely because of all those Verizon iPhones out there, which grew Apple's market two years ago, for upgrades this year. The 4S, as massive as it was, was largely AT&T people, new iPhone owners, or switchers. This time it's AT&T people, Verizon people, new iPhone owners, or switchers.

And next year, they'll add Sprint people upgrading from the 4S, too.

"Thank you for pre-ordering the 32G iPhone 5. You are one step closer to getting your phone. Keep an eye out for a shipping email with your tracking information. Your device will arrive on or around September 21. For questions, visit sprint.com/preorder."

Sprint here.

Same deal for me too. I guess those reservations did keep us "in line" for iPhones. Did anyone else that preordered a bit later (say 4am Pacific) from Apple Store get those shipping date e-mails? I'm wondering what actual time the initial stock sold out.

I chatted with a Premier rep today and they told me that my order would definitely be in the Sept 21st shipment. We shall see. I've got the same status as you on my order

Mine still hasn't changed. From AT&T Premier site. Still says processing. It does show my new wireless number though, and that it is processing one sim and phone. Is anyone familiar with AT&T orders? Does that mean i am really close to it being shipped at this point?

I have the same message but I'm not with Premier. Just regular AT&T customer here.

Was in the process of buying last night from apple, got the shipment date changed on me when I updated the address this morning. I guess I should have waited on canceling that order from Apple, because now it seems people are getting emails saying their shipment dates were wrong.

Anyways, went through at&t and I have the same exact order status, ordered at 8:11 this morning through website and it said 9/21 Delivery! Got a text saying it may be delayed though :-(

Just Talked to an Apple Rep after a 30 minute wait, All the orders from 3:00 am to 3:45 AM EST has delivery guaranteed on the 21st. This is from Apple.com or App Store. Any orders after the 3:45 am mark are on the 2 weeks shipping (Business days) 21+days

This is kind of nonsense. I ordered a 64gb and got a prosessing email at 3:53am with a Delivers 9/21 quote. Then later during the day it got pushed on my order status on line (still 'processing') to Oct 5. How does ordering within a certain time window effect stock levels. I REALLY doubt that the 64s were in as high demand as the smaller models, granted I will say they most likely did not allocate as many units of the higher capacity models as the 32's and 16's. I dont believe the "rep" you spoke with knew what they are talking about.

All in all I am expecting this order status to go back to Sept 21 within a few days...

I ordered at 7am EST, black 64GB. I haven't talked to anyone but I would expect to receive it next Friday, worst case the following Friday. Strange nobody else's has changed to "Pending".
