What if new technology comes out that could be easily added and would mean a big change, but Apple is set to release an "S" iPhone?

----------

It's less scratch-proof than the 4(S), at least if you're only considering scratches that are normally visible.

New technology does not just "come out" it takes years of refinement for it to be ready for mobile devices. Good hardware takes a lot of R&D and testing, like I said if people want a different hardware for the sake of difference plenty of other phones.

Oh boy. Wallstreet is gonna love this innovation. Not

Wall street dont buy millions of Apple devices a year, consumers do.

I think Apple are probably better sticking to selling to them rather than wall street! :D

In the past the upgraded SoC usually lead to a noticeable improvement in the speed of the phone, however my iPhone 5 appears to be near instant in every task I throw at it. I wonder how this one is going to seem faster?

One of iOS's features reserved exclusively for the 5S will be it's telepathic ability wherein as your finger approaches to tap a particular app, it'll open in a nano-second as the 5S has already read your intent thru a massively complex algorithm!! (Pheww....) :D

Come on Apple. Are you kidding me? This design can't compete with the design of HTC One.

I don't care if the 5S is the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel, my cash is reserved for the Xbox One & PS4 later this year!

My iPhone 5 will easily be good enough for another year.

I am thinking the same thing. Thank the heavens that MS came to their senses with their POS DRM schemes and essentially threw them out the window.

To the people bitching- let's wait to it is announced before we start judging it. You cannot tell new features by looking at it since it is an S model. As well as hardware upgrades it may also have exclusive software updates like Siri was to the 4S. Jump the gun much?

Seriously..? The iPhone 5 is way more scratch-proof than any plastic phones out there. Just put those plastic phones under bright light and you'll see myriads of spider web scratches. My iPhone 5 does not have scratches on the aluminum, and I don't use a case, nor a protector.

Are we going to throw it under a microscope too, while we are at it? The complaint is that the anodizing comes off, fairly easily for some people. My wife's black phone is in a case and it still has some nicks on it. No fancy shining of lights, magnifying glasses, or any of the sort needed. Just look at the thing in stadard lit room and you easily see the damage.

It's a rumors site. It's all about jumping the gun. What are we supposed to comment on if not our first impressions?

It was hard enough choosing between Black or White, the 'cheap' iPhone will make it much harder to decide not only on a color but also model. I just hope the 'cheap' one is reflected in markets outside the US where most phones are free on plans.

I don't expect apple to change the design every year.. i believe there will be inside change and maybe fingerprint sensor.

I feel like I've not much choice in upgrading to this. My iPhone 4 is on deaths door, in fact waiting through the summer to hold onto it is going to be difficult...

Now is actually a good time to get an iPhone 5 - I'm in the same situation, but my carrier now has the 5 for nothing on a good cheap contract, so I've grabbed one. When the 5S comes out, it'll be much more expensive than my current iPhone 4.

Hopefully the internals will be impressive.

128GB storage
2GB RAM
Better camera
Better CPU/GPU

Mine works fine. Maybe you should take it into an Apple store if it isn't functioning properly.

Same tired mantra being posted here...

"My iPhone 5 has never scratched..." <-- So no one else's should have either. Nice logic there.

"Who cares if nothing's new, millions will buy it..." <-- Gee what a great selling point. Thanks for lumping us in with the retarded masses.

"What do you expect? It's an "S" year..." <-- I expect a company that prides itself on innovation to, you know.. INNOVATE!!

And did I miss something where it was written in stone that "innovation" is a 24-month event? Perhaps people here have forgotten how Apple changed the design of the original iPhone to iPhone 3G in *GASP* ONLY 12 MONTHS!!!:eek:

...

My iPhone 4S is a crap. I took care of it in a way that it looks completely new after 18 months. I never dropped it.So, the quality should prove itself here. 3 months ago the wifi died and apple said it is a hardware problem. Two nights ago power button stopped working. Apple says pay $250 and replace with a refurbished one because you don't have a warranty anymore. (No thanks jerks)
I hope apple stops producing these craps in china and produce a better quality products in the US.

You missed my point. Every upgrade has been significant enough to warrant an update for people like me.

3G to 3GS was absolutely one of the best upgrades because the phone went from sluggish to usable.

4 to 4S, although not the biggest upgrade, had faster Internet which was enough for me to want to upgrade.

How is apple gonna take my money now? They're gonna release the same phone and expect me to buy it? Nope.

Well if you're expecting a redesign, then you're wrong - it's an S series phone which history has shown us will not be redesigned. There will be a spec bump and a mystery feature - neither of which you will find from a leaked image of internals and the back case.

I'm looking forward to this particular phone, as when some people can afford to change their phone so often, I can't, and I'm on a 2 year contract.

There has to be something else up their sleeve. I'm calling it now.

Of course there will be. You think they're going to re-release exactly the same phone?

Apple is a business. They want my money. And they're not gonna get it by giving me 0.1 extra GHz.

They may not get your money, but they will get the vast numbers of 4S users coming to the end of their contracts, and new users.

It's always been the case that the S models haven't been enough of an upgrade for the original model owners.
