Dear Apple,

I don't want or care about a thinner phone.

Just give me a battery which allows me to use my phone for a whole day. You know, like the one you put in the iPad. It can't be that hard to do when you scale the screen down to the size of the iPhone to make the battery last the equivalent of the one in the iPad.

My iPhone is amazing. It really is a clever piece of tech and I would never choose a different make, but please put a better battery in it.

My phone lasts for 2 days :p

A Galaxy Mega is big. A Lumia 1520 is big. A 4.7" phone isn't going to look ridiculous or huge at the thickness of the current iPhone, IMO. Take a look at all the other phones out there that are bigger than the iPhone.

Take a look at what the alleged iPhone 6 looks like compared to Android handsets out there: https://www.macrumors.com/2014/04/23/iphone-6-size-compared-android/

With the bezel keeping its current proportions, it's huge. Many Android handsets have thinner bezels, keeping the overall size down.

The 4.7 iPhone 6 will be the same size as 5 inch devices.

I'm hoping for dimensions more along the lines of the Moto X.

Why not? Is the current thickness of the iPhone the magical happy medium for image quality which can never be improved upon?

Please provide your references for this thought, unless you completely made it up.

It's basic physics of light. Light needs room to spread out from the rear lens to fill a sensor. I suspect this would mean either the image sensor is smaller, the light is steeply refracted (which would cause distortion and require software reconstruction), or they're using a new type of sensor. But even Lyto cameras have a significant distance between the rear lens and the image sensor. Interesting technical challenge.

I'm not sold on the thinner bezel at all. Even currently on my iPhone 5, there are times when if I reach across the screen, there is spurious input from the 'fatty' part of my palm below the base of the thumb. A thinner bezel is only going to increase the area of spurious input!

Unless Apple comes out with software that somehow eliminates this, like they've somewhat managed to do when holding the phone in one hand in a pinch grip on the screen and using the other hand to properly use the phone. Otherwise, I really don't want a thinner bezel.

Especially with the swipeback functionality in iOS 7, thinning the bezel while simultaneously making the phone larger is going to take a LOT away from one-handed use, not just in terms of stretching your thumb all over but also in terms of spurious input.

I'm just hoping they do to the iPhone what they did to the late 13 MacBook Air. Insane battery life even now I am still amazed at how long my mac lasts and how stupidly quick it charges! DO THAT TO THE IPHONE, APPLE!

Let's give Apple a little more credit These supposed leaks make the IPhone 6 to simple without that apple pasaz
I wouldn't be surprised to See Apple come up with something different than these leaks

At least Apple saves a few bucks on their devices when they produce a thinner phone. Less aluminium to be milled, a smaller battery is also cheaper and a smaller package means they save in shipping and storage.

And they can sell you the iphone for a higher price :D

You made a claim. Mac Rumours rules state that any claim bust be backed up with sources when asked, or it will get removed.

If this rule was actually followed, 90% of the posts would on Macrumors would be removed! (Including this one)

OMFG a volume button part. : can't sleep, eat or do anything ... Way too exciting .....

Not ...

Oh well, here's to hoping that even though Apple usually cares more about engineering feats more than they do on what's best for customer experience

But isn't this what Apple is all about? Ignoring what the customer wants and instead just making thinner, smaller products with sexy design and various engineering feats. The iPhone has never been what the customer really wants - in the beginning it had no Flash and no cut and paste, for example, whilst other phones did.

The day Apple makes what customers want is the day they're no longer Apple.

But, of course, if you want a phone with better battery life, there are tonnes to choose from if you can just force yourself to look at other makes of phone.

Pass if it has the same battery life, its no where near good enough in 2014. I hope it has much better results. Time will tell..

I really want them to design the thinnest they can, then slap on another 2 or 3mm for battery life!!!

Cue the sea of comments about how "I don't care about thinness, just make the battery better!"

If done right it's okay. Battery is a bit more important then being micro thin.

I would like my next iphone to be as thick and solid as my 4s. The form factor is perfect just the speed is not great. I am not interested in thinner at all.

4s with new processor and better battery life. Am I alone? I think not. Personally cannot stand the 5/5s form.

The iPhone 4s is still my favorite design. The size is good (even though I also like larger phones) the 5(s) looks a bit odd being longer along with the uneven back. I think Apple should have a 3.5" along with a much larger one. Not just too large phones as that would leave out options for those who don't want a tablet phone.

I feel I am a major minority,

But my iPhone 5S more than enough battery life for me.

And I for one very look forward to a thinner device.

I know I will be hated for this comment, oh well.

No idea why. It's a valid opinion on what you would like to see.

Also Apple likes making devices thinner because thin sells. When you pick up a thin device at a store it is attractive, but the passive consumer doesn't even consider the phones battery life told after they have bought it.

As a business they like don't want to be stuck with the bulky phone vs everyone else.

I've think having the iphone as thin as the current iPod touch would be great every time I hold the iPod in the store, and I thought the ipad 2 form factor was great until I held an iPad Air which feels/looks even better, but I would not say its my main concern on making a better iphone. For me to be interested in the iphone 6, the bigger screen size is most important for me but camera improvements is up there as well. The iphone takes good photos and still the best camera I've used for taking really fast pictures or taking lots of pictures back to back with great autofocus but with the great apps available in the store (they are rumored to bring some of osx apps, maybe some osx photo apps right) apple should try their hardest to make the best camera/sensor/glass for a phone. I'd love to be able to not think about if I should take my point and shoot camera and just know that my phone will put out great pictures.
Another want besides better battery is having the speakers on the front like my One has. fat chance that's going to happen but apple is missing out on a great feature that people love. while there might be one or two other phones with front facing speakers the htc one is the only one I know of so its a practical feature that almost every single other phone lacks....great for marketing and actual usefulness.

Thinness isn't really an important factor for me. Iphone 5S is already thin enough. Although I haven't hold the latest iPod touch yet, so maybe you barely notice the difference. I'm more concerned about the hugeness of that rumored iPone 6 case, still keeping fingers crossed for an 4inch high end model.

Love the "top" comments getting all pissy about the battery life being better.

Who says it isn't going to be. Chill out people.

If Apple can somehow manage to incorporate the weight of the current iPod Touch to the new iPhone, I'll be a happy camper. For me, lighter and thinner is always better. But that's just me :)

In the opening shot, why is there a static image of a slimmer phone compared to an iPhone 4s?

If you haven't seen this already, you should go check it out. I did, and now have a tremendous increase in battery life.
