These phones aren't even on the same planet, for me personally.

The Pixel has an excellent camera but:
  • Mostly Plastic
  • Has Huge Bezels
  • An inferior OLED from LG. Color shift. Burn in.
  • Less premium build quality
  • Generally Ugly
  • No wireless charging.
  • Removed headphone jack after making fun of Apple...loses all credibility

Erm?????

You DO realise this story and video refers to the 2 XL right? The one with bezelless design, has a premium metal case.
And wireless charging! Hahaha your going to go there? I mean it’s not like it’s existed for several years and Apples only this year included it in its phone, oh wait....

I don’t remember google mocking Apple for ditching the headphone jack? Are you sure Google did that?
As for ugly, that’s personal opinion and not fact.

I’d say only two of your points are actually valid.

I'm sorry, but let's recap Pixel 2/XL issues:

  • Grainy LED panel provided by LG, check
  • Burn-in on 2-week old LED green, check
  • Ships with missing accessories in the box, check
  • Ships with NO OPERATING SYSTEM, check
Who's the tester???

I hate trolls...

Ships with no operating system? Yes I hate trolls too...

Oh look on the front page, a story about green lines on faulty iPhone X screens...

It’s not easy to blindly bash other phones these days when you support Apple only, because it’s own devices are far from perfect or free of defects.

More likely just can’t ignore Trolls.:apple:

iPhone X is cheaper when you consider it has 5 years of guaranteed updates vs. 2 years for the Pixel :)
It's 3 years, but could be longer. You can root the phone and continue upgrading and Google doesn't void the warranty if you root the phone while still under warranty. So you can keep getting updates even if Google stops providing them. Google insurance for the phone is also a lot cheaper and covers a lot more for a lot less than the current ridiculous state of Apple Care for the iPhone. So no, I can't agree with you there.

I'm actually very much considering selling my current iPhone 7 and picking up a used Pixel XL (2016). Mainly because I'm not going to pay the price for the 2XL and take the hit on my iPhone 7, and the OG Pixel XL is running under $400 now and that's great for those wanting a great phone at a low price running vanilla Android.

But for now, I'll hold out and see how iOS 11 improves. If I don't switch now I may hold out for another year and see what my options are. Likely a used Pixel 2XL assuming they get everything sorted out.

What’s the point of comparisons, it’s not even close. iPhone X will be remembered as a device far ahead of its time. iOS has always been in a class of its own, but the hardware had a few shortcomings until now. This is victory by landslide for Apple, and I don’t care if any of you think any differently. Men lie, women lie, but numbers don’t. As Jobs said, “people vote with their wallets”. Let’s see if Google’s pathetic attempt at hardware even get close to 1% of Apple’s success.

For me it actually comes down to software. iOS has better, more polished apps, a cleaner experience that I TRUST more (no viruses, etc), Apple cares deeply about personal privacy (meaning they don't use my data for advertising purposes), timely updates for years and years, and simplicity.

For me, I just want my device and apps to work. Customization can be fun with Android, but the trade-offs just aren't worth it to me. I pay for long-term reliability.

BUT, with that being said, Siri still sucks.

THIS is my problem with Android. I shouldn't have to "root" my phone to get upgrades. Just ridiculous.

I will never understand customization on a phone. Why? The only person who will see it at the end of the day is you. All it does is make your phone slower and wastes space.
Do you somehow think people customize their phones for other people? That makes no sense at all. Customization doesn't necessarily make a phone slower nor does it waste space. A customized phone can be as minimal as no app icons onscreen or as jumbled as 3 big ass widgets on 5 different pages. It's what customization is. Making something the way you want it to be is the appeal. The lack of customization is the main reason I don't use an iPhone. Hardware great. Software ecosystem great. Restrictive interface, not so great for me.

I have the Pixel 2 (not XL) coming from the iPhone 8 and I must I'm loving it a lot more than I thought I would. It's also nice to have 1080p on a phone this size when the smaller iPhone still has almost the same PPI and resolution as the iPhone 4 in 2017. It's ridiculous.

To me the main difference is that with Google, YOU are the product.

Let me know if you need help deciphering the meaning of this:

There was a country preacher who decided one Sunday that he was going to try and put the fear of God into his congregation, so he came out and began his sermon by saying, “Remember, everyone in this parish is going to die!”

To his surprise, he noticed a man near the front who was smiling. He looked at him and said, “What are you so happy about?”

The man said, “I’m not from this parish. I’m just visiting my sister.”

3 years of day one updates on a Google phone is definitely not a problem. And the option to root to upgrade is there, unlike older Apple devices. The problem with Android is on other non-Google devices that get massively delayed updates and oftentimes no updates at all.
