The concept of any Iwatch ( ipad nano with a strap ) will flop. People's preferences for a large screen pocket computer (iphone) are now firmly established.

Honestly I like the idea of a nano type device where you can buy whatever strap/design you like. making 1 watch for all genders and cultures is going to be difficult. When you make something that people wear you then have to fit into more fashion than you can design and making a watch than you can change the strap of any occasion would help.

Also if you strip away the 3.5mm plug, clip, volume buttons, power button and use lightning instead of the 30pin of the 6th iPod Nano, you will get a really small device.

I hope they stick with a round design. I think this looks pretty good. Moto's sure looked like a nice watch. Of course this will bring on the throngs of "Apple is Copying!!11111!!" when in reality these things are in product dev for a long time.

i agree, but there are only so many shapes a watch can be. Even if apple was first to the market with a round smartwatch you can't blame someone else for making theirs round also.

I really hope they come out with a rugged version at some point. Like a G shock style. Be perfect for work.

Knowing Apple it will look very sleek and well made but need an OtterBox case to protect it because it will break if you look at it wrong.....

I'm not sure I want another gadget I have to worry about constantly.

My wife just broke her 3rd iPhone screen yesterday.... ordered her a Moto E for $129.- to tie her over until iPhone 6 is released.

Will it be retina!?

Wonder what will constitute a retina resolution with a circular display..

Sounds like you seriously need to invest in AppleCare+ and maybe a bumper for her next time?

I doubt the round design. It doesnt even make sense. Watches used to be round because of the gears in it and you could make the watchfaces bigger.

But for everything else, such as displaying text and interface a round display seems far worse to me

All of apples new products seem to be starting production this summer, sounds like a fall release for everything then. Ppl are going to be broke trying to buy everything that releases. No bueno. Apple should have been released something big by now.

A round shape doesn't matter. It is the pixels per inch that determine whether it is retina or not.

I am pretty sure it's the point at which the average person with 20/20 vision can no longer noticeably see pixels. So its pixels per inch and distance from eyes.

That was a smart move but she might find the lack of space disturbing. Of course it is $100 more but a Moto G with LTE is a good fall back option too but I guess aside from price the other problem is that it isn't available yet.

The Moto G should be pretty sturdy what with it's plastic construction and Gorilla Glass 3. And at almost 1/5th the cost of an iPhone it's a beautiful backup phone.

Hopefully you can import her contacts to her Google account, or does iCloud just work with Androids too?

Now, watch people say Apple copied 360 design with the round face...smh. Yeah, they copied them in a few months...get the f outta here...for all we know, the design has been going on for yearrrrs.

the round click wheel was the brilliant user input method that made the iPod so easy to use. I wonder if they're planning on using the same concept for the iWatch - hence the round shape.

Ding ding ding!

My thinking exactly - instead of swiping on the touchscreen to move through various modes, you can simply run your finger along the bezel of the watch (ala the click wheel) which cycles through various features.

I think this would actually be kinda cool. Maybe that's just me being nostalgic.

Round watches have existed since forever...so basically everyone is copying a traditional watch?
