quick update from the nerd themed party: i managed to convince my friends not to reveal anything, and i'll probably watch it right after the party. My thoughts are with you guys!
It's not as mind-blowing the second time watching it, since you can piece things together from what you already know since you already watched the season.i thought about re-watching the past episodes so i could catch up with what is going on, but there are so many complicated plot lines i think my head would explode trying to keep up with all of them and the clues. there are other things i could do with my brain, like master quantum mechanics. Lost rules!
So what? These are spoilers. Even if it was so obvious, ...
Lets be realistic, the only way you could NOT know there was a tablet is if you were mentally retarded
Ok so here's a question then (asking it just for the sake of thought/conversation, not to pick a fight) we all spend MONTHS scrounging up ANY small tid bit of information we can, and then we turn around and try to BLOCK ourselves from any information, at what point does it turn from rumor to spoiler? Take that CEO's gaffe yesterday in "confirming" the Tablet, Rumor or gaffe?
For those that are complaining about the long wait time, remember what we are talking about here. We aren't discussing a short podcast or a quick audio file, we are talking about an almost 2 hour long high quality video file. Once you capture it you have to encode it (in different sizes) and upload it. All of that stuff takes time.
I should know. I work for a video production company that specializes in streaming media. For our workflow we often account for 3-4 times the length of the video clip to have the clip ready to go. 1X for the export, 2X for the encode, and 1X for the upload. Also, the longer the clip the longer it takes. A 2 minute file can be done quickly, but a 1+ hour long file takes over 4 hours to process it through our workflow. And we are only hosting for a few hundred viewers (over the lifetime of the video).
So for Apple to host the file even four hours after the event for tens of thousands of immediate downloads quite impresses me.
...but that doesn't mean I am anxiously awaiting the video!

Lets be realistic, the only way you could NOT know there was a tablet is if you were mentally retarded, hell its even been all over the REGULAR news for the last 2 days.
Secondly, there has been some spirited debate as to what kind of name the tablet should have when it inevitably arrives.
Apple never confirmed anything. Therefore, I still hope for an iBicycle or an iAshtray. That would be great!
@MacAllen: People would consider that a spoiler. So can you please edit your post and make it not a spoiler!
Hey, that's me!
Right, but Apple has whole server farms. Plus, why can't they start encoding while it's still filming?

DyingSun said:I'm sure it's just a "political" thing, a way to buy them time to avoid unnecessary "complications", like that unauthorised-song-thing during the iPhone 3G presentation (when they showed the worldwide availability) that got edited out in the final video. Or that other moment when Schiller made a derisive comment about Microsoft Exchange in one of the iPhone SDK events (that ended up being edited out as well). So, it appears to me that Apple only posts the video online when they feel it's "safe" to do so (i.e., when all necessary edits have been done).

It makes as much sense as not capitalizing the first letter in a product name but capitalizing the second.Do you have to capitalise the beginning of every word?
ha, suckers!! Am I the only one here who still doesn't know the name of the thing???
Make a real effort to stay spoiler free this time around guys. Remember, this is HUGE. This time we don't go into quarantine for hours just to watch Phil Schiller say that the ipod has been upgraded to 64GB or something like that. Most of us weren't spoiler free when the iphone came out (I wasn't even an apple fanboy back then) This event will be just as big, have faith!
