ARGGG. Choppy and not really playing at all.
After waiting so long, this is really frustrating. Hopefully it improves or they post the podcast of the keynote so I can at least download it.

Same here. Won't open in VLC either. But then, I've never gotten QT streaming to work on this particular machine.
I was playing around with the link on my iPhone to see if I could find the HD version and this loaded, but cannot be played on my iPhone rather than just showing up as not available at all as my failed attempts lead to.

Ok because of the streaming issues, I'm trying to download the high quality one properly. That .mov file that people are linking to is just a dummy file. If you open it in notepad (windows) or textedit (mac) it contains the link to the real file.
unfortunately it's streamed via rtsp and not http, so you need a special download manager that can handle rtsp. i'm *trying* to download it now but it's oh so slow..
i also don't know the final file size - it's just got a ? there but so far it's got 48 megs.

edit: scrap that.. i *wish* i was getting 100kb/s.. it's fluctuating between 15 and 60kb/s now...

All of this time I was spoiler-free. Then, I was excited to know that the keynote was up so I turned on my MacBook Pro and opened up Safari and I forgot that I have the Apple news page as my homepage so I saw the title and a picture of what the keynote was about. Still, I'll watch the full keynote.

That iPhone link worked on my... iPhone! But it's a small screen..... I really wish the high Q one would work on my MBP
I've had a lot of success with the VLC transcoding wizard. Just choose the default options (i.e. no-re-encoding), and paste in the rtsp:// link. 80% done, and it's around 290MB (snow-leopard filesize)
thanks that link works great in VLC, but not QTX for me.
EDIT: oh wait it keeps on closing after info on the retail stores?
thanks compaqdrew, i'm trying that now.. it seems to be going quite quickly so we'll see.

the reason it's going quickly is that it's just recording the stream as it comes down, jerky and everything.

Well Apple usually posts their Keynotes on iTunes as a Podcast but also comes after the keynote online streamed
to the point the one you can download is not uploaded yet to iTunes
