So anticompetitive by partnering with 100s of thousands of developers that could never have broken into the market before the App Store and would have paid thousands a year in fees to then only get 30% of the profits. Apple should propose a return to the status quo in 2007. Then see how fast these people loose their minds.
Lol you’re talking about it as if developers didn’t exist before 2007. Do you think i was unemployed before Apples iOS release?

Hmmm makes me wonder what paid off my house end of the 90s, those were really bad times… /s

Gimme that time machine!

To keep it simple let’s say an app costs a dollar and tax is $10%.

In a country where tax is not shown in the advertised price, the user will see $1.00 and pay $1.10 after tax is added. Apple will pay the developer $0.70 after taking their 30% cut of $1.00 ($0.30).

Based on this article, in a country where tax is included in the advertised price, the user would see $1.10 and pay $1.10. Apple would take 30% of $1.10 ($0.33) and pay the developer $0.67.

In both examples the user pays the same amount ($1.10) and Apple pays the government the same amount of tax ($0.10). Yet Apple pays the developer less in the second example ($0.67 vs $0.70).

Edited for clarity.
I didn't know I was brain damaged when I wrote the following nonsense until I discuss this with my wife, but I won't delete it to cover it up. Yes, this is a fraud.

Apple pays nothing for tax in the first case; it get $0.3 exactly.

In the later case, if Apple is to pay all the 10% of VAT-added price it will get (0.3 - 1.1x10%)= $0.19, that's 33% cut of its revenue. What happens if the hidden-in-price VAT was 30%?
Apple is not going to eat it so it 'shares' 1/3 of VAT amount to developers.

I really can't understand why Korean developer accuses Apple a theft; Apple could have shifted 70% of VAT amount to the developer and I would call it fair.
