I call BS. I like the 5C, but it did not sell. I find it more likely that Apple is coming up with a design that's not closely based on either the 5S or the 5C -- they have to redesign it to fit a bigger screen on there, so why base it on a previous model, especially one that didn't sell?

Was holding the tiny appleTV remote and thought that shape would make a great iPhone.

Curved glass and all and smooth out some of the edges.

The next iPhone was in the design stages before the 5C even launched, and saying it didn't sell is incorrect anyway. It didn't sell as well as expected, but it still sold better than the product it replaced at that pricepoint (iPhone 4s).

All that said, the iPhone 5C is based on the design of the iPhone 5, just with fewer speaker holes, rounded edges and plastic casing. The iPod nano is an aluminium iPod with rounded edges. Combine the two products that this is apparently based on, and what do you get? Mostly likely an iPhone 5/5S with rounded edges. I wouldn't read much into the rumours, but the sales of the 5C wouldn't be a reason to dismiss it.

Even if the 5c did not sell as well as apple hoped (Most think it sold rather well, just that apple failed to get the production balance right with the 5s and 5c) that doesn't take away from the fact that it was a well designed phone. It felt much better in the hand then the 5/5s in my opinion and still is one of the best plastic phones from a design and look perspective. It makes some sense for apple to do a proper iPhone 6 @ 4.5-4.7 inches with all the bells and whistles of a true flagship and do a different design for a 5+ inch phone. The reverse (doing a 5+ inch flagshp and a <5" C) would just not work from a sales point of view.

The Note feels very high end though, it has a metal bezel along with some kind of rubberized back like the Nexus 7. Compared to a GS3 it feels much better constructed.

The 5c feel pretty solid in hand too. By "cheap", I meant more the manufacturing cost than how it feels. Machining/refining/anodizing aluminium is more expensive than molding plastic.

It sells better than the 4S that it replaced at that pricepoint, and possibly better than the 5 would have. "A failure in Apple standards" Have you ever even held one? No one really cares what you told your friends before you even saw one in person.

Yes, i did. I hate plastic with passion i've had up to here of it.

I actually bought a 5c, and I'm very impressed by the design. After spending over a year with an iPhone 5, it's a welcome switch because I can actually hold it without a case. Anyone dismissing the 5c too easily clearly has never used one.

Absolutely agree. The 5C feels fantastic. I have a 5S and spent way too much time trying to find a case for the 5S that felt like the 5C.
I know, I know  ...but I do hope they move in this direction.

Ugh. Just bring back the iPhone 4S design with a larger screen. Why is that so hard. IT was the best looking iPhone to date and gave the best reception!

Yeah but let's not forget how many cracked phones there were, caused by the glass back of the 4/4S design.

Rumored dimensions

Something about this rumor makes no sense. If the 4.7" screened iPhone 6 measures "14x7 cm", that leaves MASSIVE bezels around the edge of the device.

I don't want the 4.7 model to be the "midrange", like the 5c, and the 5.7 inch model to be the flagship. I for one do not want a screen larger than 5 inches, but also don't want to have to buy a midrange phone. Just make the iPhone 6 available in two sizes, both same quality, and call it a day.

Yes, like how the two sizes of ipad now have the same internals. But, I want those sizes to be 4 and 4.7". No phablets please. Ever.

Based on the 5C? Sounds ugly. What Apple should do is bring back the iPhone 4 design with the thinness and chamfered edges of the 5. Full front and back in sapphire please. With a full back sapphire the camera lens doesn't have to be a separate piece.

Nope

Not plausible. This suggests 4 iPhone models on market at once. Not Apple's style. I would discount this rumor/"report" entirely.

In terms of features, the 5s is clearly the main/future line of the iPhone. I don't think the 5c style will continue or become popular, but a nano-inspired anodized metal is a possible (significant) change.

I don't know about your pants pockets, but a 5s is about as long as mine will handle. I won't do cases or holsters.

The article clearly states it would NOT be plastic. I don't know where everyone is getting this (perhaps not reading the whole thing). They said it would be the same design as the 5c, with the rounded edges, but in anodized aluminum.

People in the US don't know how to read.

Totally agree... it would be so dumb if they made the bigger phone more feature rich and enticing. They should be the exact same, minus screen size. I want the 4.7"-5" model, nothing bigger.

Hopefully they follow the pattern they have started with the iPad Air and iPad mini. Virtually the same internals but different screen sizes.
At this early stage I wouldn't care if the processor was slightly slower than the larger phone if it allows for a better battery life.

If it's going to be made out of plastic... like my ugly ass 5C, then Apple is doomed.

:apple: Apple is known for high quality.

But i believe the guys at Apple know what they're doing. :)

All i want is a larger display.

The the xiaomi Mi3 sorta has an ipod nano feel as well

Yes it does, I always wondered how long apple would be able to put out super high quality builds.......I guess the 5S will be known as the last really nice build. I may jump to android before buying apples super duper magical plastic..............that nobody like to call plastic.

Who said anything about plastic?!

WHY on earth would Apple make the iPhone 6 looks like/similar to THAT!? It has ugly written all-over-it. I greatly dislike the 5c as it screams cheap and the nano….. a sad case, wish it had the click-wheel AGAIN.

I love the 5c! I like to always have the top of the line iPhone, so I have a 5s. However, I wish it had the design and colour of the 5c.

If they came out with a bigger screen and a casing that feels like brushed aluminum in different colours, that would be perfect!
