All the people clamoring for the "plus" were probably previously convinced that the iPhone size was perfect and Samsung's larger models were too big.

Go ahead and post some username of these supposed people.

There are plenty of iPhone owners now who don't want iPhones to go this big, and there were plenty of people back then who wanted bigger iPhones.

Too all those folks who have no memory of Apple history saying that Apple never has used "Plus" before.... boy... do you folks forget a lot:

It was only one person who said it. Either way, maybe that was acceptable in the 80s for a desktop computer, but it's unfitting for a smartphone in 2014.

I would've preferred. iPhone and iPhone Air. Like Mac and Mac Air or iPad and iPad Air.

But that just makes zero sense. Air? Why? The only way that remotely works is if the smaller device is called the "Air" because it's lighter... I know Apple uses the term but that doesn't make it any less crap.

Tomorrow, Tim Cook says, "and the 4.7 and 5.5 iPhone 6 will be available in stores and online....RIGHT NOW!" I wonder what kind of chaos that would cause. :D

I so hope that we get pre orders this time.

This thread reminds me of the Macintosh SE days. Back then, Apple added an "x" to the end of the model name to delineate a 68030 processor. For example, IIx, IIcx, IIvx. When it came time to release a version of the SE with a 68030 processor, they quickly found that the Macintosh SEx just wouldn't work. Thus, the SE/30 was born.

People may want the 5.5 " phone for internet etc. but I think they look very foolish holding a large phone to their face and making calls :D.

I don't know, this young Hipster looks quite the man about town!*

Well, he would in 1992 when mobile phones were like this:

Why is the Apple Events channel not showing up on Apple TV yet? Is it going to be streamed via browser only?

Why can't they just both be called iPhone 6 like how all MacBook pros are MacBooks pros and all iMacs are iMacs regardless of size?

Seems like they want to recycle a branding moniker that they have not employed in quite some time...specifically the 70's.
