All the people clamoring for the "plus" were probably previously convinced that the iPhone size was perfect and Samsung's larger models were too big.

It's funny how some people seem to think MR has one collective opinion.

It'd make sense for Apple to drop the number(s), they did it with the iPad Air. I have a sense they may go with iPhone Air and iPhone Pro; the 4.7" model is smaller and lighter and the 5.5" model may follow rumors with different internals for a "Pro" monicker (RAM, battery, camera, display, etc).

iPhone macro

you know they considered it,

plus is pretty lame. wasn't there something else called plus? I can't remember it…

isn't the warranty called plus?

Too all those folks who have no memory of Apple history saying that Apple never has used "Plus" before.... boy... do you folks forget a lot:

Yup... Apple *never* uses "Plus." RIIIIIGHHHT

Maybe "Plus" sounded cool in the 70s. They also sold beige computers for a good long time.

I don't know why each screen size needs a separate name. Call it the 6 and leave it.

Seriously, who the F cares what the name of the iPhone is going to be? are you guys serious?

Plus is greater than, so it fits it well without being arty farty like 'Air'. I like it.

Yeah, it would be awesome if you were trying to belittle your OTHER flagship phone & convince people that, if this model is "greater than", obviously the other size is "less than".
If this is true they may as well rename the 4.7" version the "iPhone 6 piece of garbage". This is the stupidest rumor I've ever read on this site. For serious.

I don't see how it could be called iPhone Air.

In both cases the Air designation came from making the Macbook---> thinner and lighter and making the iPad----> thinner and lighter.

For the 5.5, its going from iPhone6 to a monster jumbo phone and its getting BIGGER.

So it doesn't really add up on all fronts that it could be called the Air because the fact that its getting larger not smaller in most ways is counterintuitive to the term if only in principle.
