Apple's Leather-Alternative iPhone 15 Cases Said to Have Different Texture

The amount of people getting offended because their cases are no longer made from dead animals is absolutely insane.
It was long overdue that Apple makes a change to vegan leather and I'm so glad they finally did. Go Vegan!
(...ready for your downvotes. I hope my comment offends all of you so much who think killing animals for your damn pleasure is the right thing to do).

This thread as of right now has 25 comments of which half are people who support the change. I'd hardly qualify that as "insane" but its a good way to show us how virtuous you are in your support of vegan.

I don't care if they switch to vegan leather for the record. Its a phone case, big deal.

Agreed, the slightest drop would cause a big gash to be torn in the leather. I guess it’s better than your phone dropping while naked but for $60 I expect better durability in a case.

Same goes for the silicone cases: in just a few months the corners begin to peel off from the friction of being put into / taken out of your jeans pocket. Unacceptable IMO for a $50 case.

I really hope that the new vegan leather cases have better durability and great feel 🙂

Want to get away from leather - but call it 'vegan leather', 'pleather' or one of numerous similar terms?

Just call it what it is and drop the word 'leather' unless it really is animal hide. Whether that is PVC, PU, processed mycelium, cork or anything else. Whether you like them or not, each has its own properties and qualities.

Don't use the word that says what it isn't - however qualified with adjectives.

1). "Vegan Leather" is made from plastic. You know, petroleum products made from oil pumped from those ever so clean oil wells.
2). "Real Leather" comes from the leftover hides of food animals slaughtered for your dining pleasure.
Unless you only consume grass grown without cultivation (uses that bad old oil) and wear natural rope belts and hand woven homespun and hemp sandals, your are a hypocrite.

You can save a lot of money there. I recently ordered a garden sprinkler from China. It works great and it was just €1.85 Euros. Shipping was free.

That Apple logo would be something I would hide with a sticker or so unless Apple paid me for that ad.

Yah well I suspect there are plenty of people here who think a Nike swoosh on their shoes makes them run faster, too. Never underestimate the power of brand marketing to pad Apple’s coffers with the profit from ridiculously overpriced accessories that are identical in every way to knockoffs except the logo and the price.

I actually also tried to get rid of the Nike logo from my shoes, but Nike designed those shoes in a way that they might fall apart, if you cut of the logos. I would pay $50 extra for Nike shoes without Nike logos, because those shoes are very good, but they are often worn by criminals or shady rap artists. I do not want to be associated with those people.

The strangest thing are cases that have a cutout or a window show that the logo on the iPhone stays visible. That is really embarrassing.
