Most flagship phones these days typically have the same Sony sensors. The differences are in the glass and software post-processing.Instead of more lenses, how about improve the low light picture quality?
Just the other night when I was at the candlelight dinner, the iPhone XS got whipped by the Xperia XZ2 premium in terms of the picture quality.
(Neither activated the flash. It is left at auto.)
Apple, please don't become Gillette.
If you ever take pictures of people or objects more than 20 feet away from you, that third lens is not pointless in the least.I’d be nice if Apple added more cool and innovative features to the iPhone instead we get a pointless third lens that nobody asked for or cares about.
They won’t. It will be a horizontal centered three-camera array with a ring flash around the center camera.I don't want to blow such a trivial thing out of proportion, but if Apple actually release the thing in that picture as an iPhone I think that might be the day I step off the Apple train.
It's 2019, my £999+ smartphone shouldn't rock when I type. Let alone on some sort of nightmare-inspired monstrosity half the width of the body.
Apple really needs to focus on low light pictures. In day light I can take amazing shots considering how tiny the lenses are, but indoor or after sunset I really struggle getting something barely usable. I can always pick my DSLR but that's not the point, other brands do perform better in low light. Maybe colors are not accurate, but being able to see something is better than having a pic with no details at all.
Some enhancements can be made via software taking advantage of their amazing SoC, but I wonder if a dedicated lens could improve low light pics, I guess Huawei did something similar with the monochrome lens
The reason for my comment had nothing to do with the person posting... just a happy coincidence [almost].The member you're replying to is from New Zealand, not Australia.
Which, Apple sucked here...Most flagship phones these days typically have the same Sony sensors. The differences are in the glass and software post-processing.
The pixel does better only in low light. Daytime pictures XS looks much more realistic. Pixel adds too much punch and contrast. iPhone camera I think is better if you like to edit in post, you can easily add contrast.Uninspired rendering, but if they change up the camera hardware, the software needs to be improved as well. I've personally tested the iPhone XS camera against the Pixel 3, and the Pixel is noticeably better, especially in low light. I'll go back to iPhone full time if the camera improves.
7B lesser than forecast which means sales are on their way down. Apple is literally begging users to upgrade at their stores by lowering the XR prices to embarrassing levels. If the rumours are correct,6s is losing support next year to force upgrades from 5s,6,6s users. The writing is on the wall. Enough is enough for the customers when it comes to Apple’s crazy prices. You mean the tanking sales at $84B. The second best quarter ever? Yep, only Apple could say their sales are tanking, when they take in a quarter what many companies take in a year. (and to boot have the second best quarter ever)
Love it. That site is a macrumors shill site. However $84b is a revenue number that speaks for itself.7B lesser than forecast which means sales are on their way down. Even Tim Cook sees it

Even $30B is a huge number so that doesn't mean much but looking at all the promotions, discounts and earlier than expected forced obsolescence of the 6s, alarm bells have started ringing at Apple's HQ. I have received 2 emails over the past months imploring me to get a XR. Why the need for so much aggression of everything is fine?Love it. That site is a macrumors shill site. $84B still speaks for itself. Apple is doomed because they only raked in $84B after reducing their guidance. Second best quarter in history and “Apple is doomed”. It’s been doomed for 8 years. It’s possible the odds that San Francisco will have an earthquake are more.Even $30B is a huge number so that doesn't mean much but looking at all the promotions, discounts and earlier than expected forced obsolescence of the 6s, alarm bells have started ringing at Apple's HQ.
