Asking honestly because I am curious. Why Linux over Windows? And what do you see for the future of the platform?

*chirp* Why are we talking in animal noises *chirp* ?

He's the last connecting tissue to Steve Jobs. Whatever is left are suits and ties.

His leaving will leave the door open for a hungry designer. Someone that has a vision - aka: direction. Ive was the tired ring master for designs that hampered performance, and stifled function. For what? Thin - huge notches - failed pro devices? It is long overdue that he left and let Apple get back to innovation.

How much is he gonna charge to narrate the videos?

Honestly he was probably to the point of just critiquing and approving designs from his team. I doubt he was still involved in the design evolution of each product from beginning to end.

Don't kid yourself. He stamped every notch, .5 mm thickness loss, and round corner that Apple released.

Oh, no doubt. But with consumer-facing machines, Windows dominates, with Mac behind that, and then Linux behind that. I was wondering what that fellow's opinion was on the future of Linux in the consumer space.

Maybe he's going to start a new computer company and do it the way he always wanted to without the corporate meddling.

Hows that going to work, he's going to be designing for corporate clients, if anything he will be more under their control, it's not like you've got free reign to do what ever you want

So is Jony going to get more or less money from apple now? I'm guessing more. Tim is going to blame the next price increase on Jony.

His elite-tier Dieter Rams influence set Apple apart from the fakers. They've done lots of boneheaded designs, but Ive's aesthetic is a rare force and not merely minimalism.

Absolutely, but Linux still has a huge market and for a reason.

With Apple as primary client? Not sure i'm ok with that seems like apple supporting his startup just akaward to say the least.
Instead of Ive designing for Apple and getting his salary from them, he will now be Designing for Apple and getting his Salary from them. Same but different.
He will be open to the market now so it means his designs won’t be Apple exclusive anymore.

kinda but who saying that is the same salary its just to weird for apple to outsource its design TBH. Also not the same he will be designing for other clients too big difference.

Is that you Jony? ;)

I've never really been a fan of his interpretation of aesthetic, always preferring the fakers designs influencing other industry players. From that viewpoint, he has been a hinderance to achieving a form that lives up to the function that Apple excels at.
