Absolutely. I was so disgusted with Microsoft forcing me to buy a new pc that I instead went out and bought a Mac. No more Windows for me.

I'm sure some of the increase in Mac sales is from current Mac users trying to get ahead of the tariffs, but I'm sure some of the sales are coming from people like me that are abandoning Windows.

You'll never regret that decision.

So this is misleading then. They’re just stuffing the stores with laptops to be ready to go.

That being said, my M3 MacBook Air 15 Inch is the best MacBook I ever owned and I owned multiple MacBook Pros and the 1st generation launch MacBook Air in 2008 (how far we have come lol).

I’m sort of more interested in how iPad sales are going. The asp for an iPad is about $300. This was originally apples version of the netbook as Apple wouldn’t get involved in the low cost pc market. Given that iPad business is similar in revenue to the whole mac business, there most be tons more iPads sold for every mac.

Is the iPad the biggest single computing platform now? And given how long they last before they get replaced the numbers they must be selling is crazy.

Also, with the iPadOS 26, given them more mac like capabilities, are people going to buy a MacBook over an iPad in the future unless they program or maybe edit video?

Feels like the iPad is going under the radar…

Apple would never do that to you, worry not!

I realize Mac's are only supported for a certain number of years but I switched for two other reasons as well. First, Windows is plagued with problems nowadays as I support Windows in IT, it has a lot of problems and somehow manages to keep getting worse with most updates. Second, at least a Mac has trade in value over the years with Apple, Windows have basically none. Of course, MS forcing me to throw away my perfectly good Windows computers I already own was the final straw for me (granted I'll probably install Linux on them to get more use).

Certainly fair ... but at the same time I can put Windows LTSC on a 10+ year old PC of any variant and have a very capable computer for many tasks still. Software compatibility from the past is also totally unmatched.

It helps that several younger people have never even touched Windows before, and Microsoft has kind of made Windows just another thing they sell. Ultimately in USA at least I foresee a future where the majority of PCs used are Macs and Chromebooks.

I have been seeing articles about LTSC but decided against it. First I don't have a volume licensing agreement, and secondly, Windows 11 has soooo many problems. I deal with it at work as my job but don't want to deal with it at home.

Most go for Win 10 LTSC
It's phenomenal -- highly recommend it.

Now would be the time for Apple to start really pushing more into gaming.
They have been, just slowly since they are not going to make a dGPU. The M5 is going to be a huge leap in graphics and the M6 and M7 could revolutionize gaming on Mac.

They need to be working more on a compatibility layer. Not just to port PC games to the Mac but to emulate the hardware so it is playable. Rumor has it that Steam is working on a ARM based Steam Deck, working with them to bring PC compatibility to Steam for the Mac would be a game changer.

All the Macs are great computers. The numbers might not be representing the actual sales of the computers! But with new models expected later this year, Apple will be able to keep up the Mac shipments.

I purchased my first Mac this February! Never thought of trying it out before now. Especially having been a PC gamer for so long. But I love everything about it. I got the M4pro 14/20/24 and it's super nice. It really brought the apple ecosystem full circle for me.

We did the M4 Pro and Max family of processors upgrade for wife’s four daughters and the two of us last November. I already had the M4 iPad and added a 15” M4 MBAir (32GTB and 2T%B SSD) last month as a test machine for MacOS.

We installed max memory for each model and large SSDs to future proof them. We all have Apple AI off until such time as it is a proven product. Not sure if Apple will get that done internally and may have to buy someone else’s product.

We need vigor and clear thinking at Apple. Small incremental changes seem to be barely discernible. Any “Wow” statements seem to be lacking. Product announcements are not generating lines to buy the new items anymore.

What we get works but with little excitement.
