An entire episode dedicated to Cobel finding an old notebook? That episode had so much potential but it ended up being a huge waste of time. For anyone who has not seen S2 yet, you can skip episode 8 and you will not have missed a single plot point.
I don't think that's really fair? Episode 8 was where we learned that Cobel was the one personally responsible for designing most of the tech used for the severance process (if not all of it)! It's the episode that explains why she finally turned her back on Lumon to help Mark.

Could they have communicated it without using a whole episode? Yeah, probably. But it definitely helped viewers learn a LOT more about Cobel's upbringing/background, so she's not just this mysterious character who was somehow given a high-ranking position in Lumon despite not being part of the Eagan family.

Love the idea and will watch the behind the scenes video. But they really missed an opportunity here to give this device a full-fledge product page with all kinds of bonkers explanations, specs etc. Maybe for season 3?

Tastes vary. I was hooked on Severance from the first minute, while I found the first episode of Silo downright painful to watch - horrible acting. So I stopped watching. Will it pick up?
For sure. Each to their own and all that. No question. I found Silo quite compelling as time went by. In my view, the most recent season was the best so far. It became very political. And I loved the blend of hard sci fi and politics. Probably why my fav show of all time remains the 2004 remake of Battlestar Galactica!

Doesn’t that episode kind of give insight into why the Cobelvig character might be both a weird broken person but also possibly not entirely malicious? I saw her as a device the writers used to move the story and help the characters with something (trying to be sort of vague to keep spoilers out). And it needed to be somewhat believable that she could be trusted, at least until we find out what season 3 happens.

Ep.8 also implicitly contextualizes all of the other non-severed characters, and explains a lot about the world outside of the company town. This show plays a lot with credulity, perspective, and objectivity in ways that many find hard to grasp. So many characters exaggerate and bend the truth in their favor, which I can only imagine is confusing if you fail to distinguish this as a workplace story versus a company story.

None of you nerds noticed that the Lumon Terminal is based on a real terminal from 1977 made by Data General? It’s part of a mini-computer system. The blue and blue keyboard is eye catching and unique. The trackball is fake.

The guy to looks like Garth from SNL acquired one 5 years ago. Here’s a live stream where he and Usagi got it working. Skim to see where they work on it.

I’m not old enough to remember using one, but I love the blue keyboard and want one for myself.
