But it's not at all practical, if not impossible at the moment to get a touch strip in a wireless keyboard so.

Genuinely think the 2016/17 MacBook Pro keyboard is the best keyboard i've ever typed on. Followed by the current gen Magic Keyboard.

1. developer uptake has been slow. they may can it. it also takes a lot of battery which would make it annoying for the wireless model. and they cant have the wired model be better than the wireless model...
2. try typing on a lenovo thinkpad or even a 2012 macbook pro. much much better. I'm a touch typist and I make significantly more errors on the shallow keyed 2017 13" macbook pro. I've gotten used to it by now, but it's in no way better. Shallow keys suck.

But imagine the crushing disappointment when you suddenly realise that you're using Windows.

I'll take Windows any day on bleeding edge, current hardware than macOS on decrepit, legacy hardware.

I tend to use APPS. You may spend all day in the OS, but I can't imagine you accomplish much.

I'd buy if so. I wonder if they could also just make the touchbar in addition to the top row of keys. So you could get your special functions and analog touch control AND your physical ESC key if your heart requires it.

Considering the TB adds $300 to the cost of an MBP, I think $400 is a bit steep for a keyboard that's not meant for a huge amount of typing.

I've had all the MacBooks since 2007 and this is my favourite keyboard ive ever used. I like the lack of wobble, I like the satisfying click, I like the click. For ME it is better. For you it isn't. There is no right or wrong you can't say "it is no way better" because I think it is the nicest keyboard i've ever typed on and I can type 80-90 WPM.

No it doesn't.

The TB plus a significantly more powerful processor plus a second Thunderbolt 3 controller driving two extra ports add $300 to the cost of a MBP.

Remember - the non-touchbar MBP is really the retina MacBook Air - its very different to the TB MBP inside.

well....for me it is better.
i really doubt you can type 80-90 wpm on a macbook pro keyboard without significantly more errors than the normal keyboard though.
for what it's worth, the best 'mac' keyboard of all time for me was the 2007 1st gen macbook pro. those keys had the best feel.

Well I can, and every key makes a satisfying click when i press it in - it's easily the most satisfying keyboard i've ever used. But then you don't even own one so.

One can only hope they are making a full touch model keyboard with LCARS interface.

They're probably just update the color to match the iMac Pro.

I couldn't imagine spending $129 for that. At that price I'd expect Cherry MX key switches. Preferably with an ergonomic design.

2017 13" MBP here
I still use a 2015 15" MBP for work though, as well as a 2012 non-retina model

so I can directly compare
