Great addition to the bay. The area needed a couple of extra things and what a coup for Apple. People are going to wonder what it is, which creates that highly desirable buzz.
 
As the article pointed out this is an existing building. Apple is taking it over.
It actually looks like it's a new building on an existing "island". Google satellite show this:
Presumably the (old) lower building is now the sphere shown in this newer 360 degree view?
 
You think there’s a first floor? Or is it all underground/underwater. Also, the panels aren’t going to be removed?

What exactly is the 'innovation' here? No windows when you have this view is just stupid. Apple puts these huge glass facades into stores in places where there's nothing to see. And here on this Marina Bay backdrop it's just a metal ball...
Very sure the grey covering is just protecting glass panels. When they open this shop it’ll be a fully glass sphere. Should have amazing views from inside and out!
