At least the butterfly switches had logic behind it as well as the Mac Pro trash can design. The mouse lacks all logical design for the port.
Incorrect. The logic behind the location of the charging port on the Magic Mouse is that it matches the location of the tab that you push to remove the battery cover on the battery version. That choice probably makes the electrical layout and manufacturing of both models very similar.

I take the protection aspect over quick access to the charging port any day personally. As an AirPods product, just like the cheaper ones, it would have been nice to have a proper charging case included from the get-go, although these things have good battery life already.
Everyone has personal preferences, but the point is that the "throw in the bag" design of enclosure has its own shortcomings. I've also seen people point out that many of the "throw in the bag" designs use metal zippers which can scratch the headphones inside the case.

Forget the Magic Mouse’s design issues. What’s ridiculous about it is that it replaced a much better mouse — design and tech at the expense of tighter control. Anyone else bewildered as to why Apple stopped producing the Mighty Mouse? Having that analog ↕️↔️ control is indispensable when working in any software that requires horizontal scrolling. In my case, Logic Pro. I’ve tried 3rd party alternatives and nothing feels nearly as good as the Mighty Mouse. Don’t tell me that other Logic or Final Cut users (or any other users of pro software) are attempting to use a trackpad to scroll left and right comfortably. Still clutching my 2013 one and will perform surgery on it if it ever dies.

But then you couldn't use it either while charging. Also the Magic Mouse charging situation is such a none issue in real life, unless you're dumb enough to ignore the low battery warning for days or weeks. ?‍♂️
Completely agree, maybe every couple of weeks I put my MM2 on charge while I go for a cuppa or a healthy smoke. It charges fast and lasts for yonks, it just isn’t a problem.

LOL...having to include an entire charging mat is not a better design decision than plugging the mouse in for a three minute fast charge. More materials, more expense, more complication.
Are you dense? The mat is a separate accessory for those who wants it.

A small pad is nicer and superior solution to plugging it in… on the bottom. And it looks better.

Or you ad a stand would be nicer but with magnetic pins instead of lightning

Or even simpler just put a port on the front
With zero loss to quality or aesthetics

these are all questionable designs for sure but the new iMac also definitely belongs to the list..
they look good from rear but front looks so inferior and bad compared to predecessor models, with huge bezels and no Apple logo.
just ugly.

That’s not logical it’s laziness, they redesign it first 2009 then in 2015… 6 years ago. Just like when they designed the first Apple Pencil using the lightning port instead of the smart connector to charge or the same idea as the Apple Pencil 2…

Or provide a dock instead if they where too lazy to redesign the charging port. Why must third parties fix problem only apple design?

I love the Mac Pro. Actually I asked work to buy one as a server. The only problem I have is the cooling design and tend to collect dust at the bottom. It is compact enough to fit anywhere on the shelf compared to the original Mac Pro.

1+3. Magic Mouse 2 and Apple Pencil (1st Gen): I really have no problem with how they charge.
2. Apple/Siri Remote (2015-2021): This one is a hit/miss to me with the touchpad and which way is up.
5. Butterfly Keyboard (2015-2019): The 2015 MacBook and 2016 MacBook Pro were quite poor, but no problem with later models.

I use a cheap wired Logitech G502 gaming mouse with pad, its way better than a Mighty Mouse I used, more precise, and scrolling web pages you can spin the wheel to scroll vertical and set any sensitivity you prefer for. You can't really us a Magic Mouse as easily for games/applications where your mouse movements need to be more precise IMHO.

Apple offered only a narrow time window during which the keyboard on the MacBook could be replaced. That window soon expired and you have to pay full price to get the ******* thing repaired.

The old stories about Apple indulging customers with generous return policies are long, long gone. Apple is no stranger to cleverly screwing their customers. That's why they have $200 billion in cash.

I occasionally plug my mouse and keyboard to charge, and I never once thought the mouse laying upside down was a problem. When I get a message that the battery is running low, I plug it in when I am done using my computer for a while and it charges. Maybe I don't worry enough.

I would put the Airpods Max case as an example of great design. I went through a lot of OTE headphones in my life and never once used the cases that came with them whereas I use the “bra” all the time thanks to how quickly I can slip it on and because of its lightweight and near zero footprint.
I come from a part of the world where if a man carried that monstrosity, he would fairly soon get kicked in the head.

4 years after purchase is "narrow" ?????
Considering a failure needs a complete top case replacement that have practically been unheard of in the history of apples normal keyboards before the terrible design of the butterfly design. And it’s a known design flaw they tried to fix multiple times. At least you should get 4 New Years of free repair every time they fix it for the same problem they caused

To all of you hypocrite saying you like the Magic Mouse and charging it is a non-issue. You need to get better lying… 😂 it’s a complete failure when it’s completely inoperable due to charging. I can’t think of a single other product that has that issue aside from Apple Pencil 1.
It’s. A. Wireless. Mouse!!!

Apple didn’t intend for it to be used connected. With only a few minutes to reach a satisfactory charge, go make a hot drink, check the news, a toilet break, stand up and stretch for a moment.

And if it still seems weird or off-putting, then buy a WIRED mouse. Simple!!!

No lying, no hypocrisy, just simple logic…

Or a pouch would be better. Why would you even use the case considering it have no real practical uses? The battery life is phenomenal so no need to use the cases “sleep mode” if they had a normal on off button/ sensor

Any other company that designs their products that way like would be laughed off of the market. Fortunately, my wireless Logitech G915 TKL keyboard can be charged via wired without flipping it over and making it useless while charging.
