The packaging makes you want to never throw the box away!! I like the brilliant color.

What kind of connector is that power cord?

The Touch ID will be great. I use it constantly when using with my notebooks.

Who throws Apple boxes away. I have a massive collection :) Mostly I see them to sell them on... but I seem to have dozens of old boxes.

Connector is proprietary Mag connector.

Its refreshing to see someone else unbox, even if its in a different language. Getting tired of the same predictable MBKHD, OMG iJustine, whadup guys, Dieter Bohn over philosophical, hey guys this auuuuuuustin reviews.

On the topic the iMac, seriously, that yellow color is not gonna age well, in fact, it would look perfect next to Austin Powers in 1972. The safest color I think are silver and blue. The chin is just too much and considering that does a desktop where you hardly care about how it looks at the side, Apple could have increased the girth for the sake of a near bezel-less design. I hope what ever becomes the iMac Pro delivers that, but I am not counting on it to be honest.

As for potential purchase? Probably not in this generation, I have two many computers and I'm not happy with my M1 MacBook Pro killing my external backup and costing me money to get it replaced. But, potentially will upgrade in 2023 when the M series mature even more.
MaxTech and Dave2D I’ve found are much better than those guys…

The black border has also been my main complaint about white-colored front plates on older gens iPhones and iPads for years, so annoying and never gets used to it after all this time. That's also the main reason I always went for grey shades.. Thanks God Face ID devices use black display border (regardless of the backplate color). The new iMac is surely a one-step forward and 3-steps backward in terms of design.

Agree so did a photoshop mockup with a black border. Looks awful. With the chin colour it looks bad. Even with the Back metal colour it looks a wrong.

Ironically the white works best.

I do think the the 27" ones ( those they will be 30+ I am sure ) when they arrive witll have the same colours as the iPhone Pros. Makes sense. Question is will they have a chinless design? I wonder if they will release a matching Monitor too for a second monitor and for the the Mac Pro mini - or probably plain old school "Mac".

These forums make my day sometimes. All the people here eternally banging on about how it doesn’t matter what the machine looks like and it’s what it you do with it that counts, whinging incessantly because they don’t like the colour and the Apple logo has gone 😂😂

It’s like over on the iPad Pro forums- iPad only has 3gb! Wtf Apple! iPad only has 4gb, android has 100gb ram! Typical Apple form over function. iPad now comes with 16gb! 16gb? Why do I need that much it’s just an over sized phone 😂😂

I would say most people here care a lot what their Apple products look like. The iMac's chin and the bezel or the iPhone's notch are constantly being talked about around here.

This forum isn't a hive mind – people here have different opinions. A forum like this is a place to discuss these opinions.

Everything on time. There is an embargo to be lifted.

I like the Asian guy because he disobeyed the embargo. That lets me know he is not trying to stay in the manufacturer's good graces and will most likely give an honest review. A lot of the reviewers want to keep the latest and greatest technology coming to them for free so that can upload YouTube posts that garner lots of views which keeps those Google checks coming. Notice that reviewers you mentioned didn't dare break the embargo even though, I'm willing to bet, they already have their units. When the embargo lifts, watch how quickly they will post.

Not sure on the colour - Yellow was one of the colours I thought looked great in the promo pics but in this video it doesn't look bad just... off somehow.

I'm eager to see unboxing of the other colours - particularly the green (as it reminds me of the Bondi blue iMac G3).

What is immediately apparent is that the front “pastel” colour is more vibrant than original images led many to be believe, and as such doesn’t contrast as sharply with the back as it seemed to in initial pictures and renders. Cool.

In closeups the overall finish is metallic looking and very nice. And I have no issue with the light grey bezel.

They have taken the concept of the previous generation design and refined it to the next level. How the iMac could be made thinner from this is beyond me, but bezels could get thinner still and perhaps to the point of practically nonexistent. Remember unlike an iPad there is no need to be able to hold the device around the display. The light bezel also helps distinguish that this is indeed a different device than what came before. The chin is another issue as the guts have to go somewhere unless you want to add a lump in the back like some AIOs have done. The alternative is for the guts to become even more compact and thus the chin becomes even smaller.

The Yellow looks so much better here than in earlier images. The closeups show off the attention to detail and the quality of manufacture. We also see detail that wasn’t apparent in previous images.

All of it adds up to something that definitely looks far, far better than a “toy” so many have absurdly derided about the new design. I definitely want to see more of the other colours. I can also add Yellow to Green and Silver I could consider for my own purchase—it looks cool.

I didn’t hate or was disappointed when I saw the new design, but I was surprised given the apparent certainty of the rumours months prior to release. Now seeing the actual device more closely I think it looks damned cool and a worthy next step in the iMac’s evolution. It not only looks good it sure as hell doesn’t look anything like whatever else being made. I still would have liked the Apple logo on the chin, in this case a light coloured one, but the new iMac is instantly recognizable as an Apple iMac and not any other generic looking AIO.

Wow. I really don’t like it. The color is garish and over-the-top. The white bezel dulls the screen rather than helping it pop like with a black bezel. It looks more like a toy than a machine, which is probably the point. Hopefully Apple releases something a little less Fischer-Price looking in the future.

Yes, I too am being negative. Look, this machine is dividing people. If you like it, good for you. I really wanted to like it because I wanted to buy one, but I cannot spend the money on something I dislike so much. This aesthetic just isn’t for me. I’m sure Apple will be fine.

Well, yes, that’s literally their job. You sign a piece of paper that says “I’ll give you product x to review, but you can’t post anything about it until 0900PST ON 18 May 2021.” This guy isn’t one of those. He’s just someone that managed to get one early.

It’s no different than employees at retail stores. Yes, it’s a bit different now with the shipping we have available. But I remember working retail in the 90’s. We’d get new software, games, etc days, sometimes weeks before release date. They’d come in boxes on a pallet wrapped bio with signs all over “do not open until xyz” with whatever the street date was. There were protections in place many times to prevent an early sale (system has it ring up at $10,000 until launch day) but not always. And if a product snuck through there was a good chance your store was either fined or was prohibited from selling products from that manufacturer again (I remember a small independent game store losing Microsoft retail license back with the original Xbox for breaking street date on some Xbox game).

It’s not much different than other NDAs really. People who’s jobs/money depend on the content of NDAs don’t break them.

He didn’t disobey anything. He had nothing (I’m assuming) telling him he couldn’t. If you got one early there’s nothing stopping you also from doing it (except whatever takedown threats come after it gets a lot of views). They’re not the same thing at all.

I have more trust in the reviewer who isn't subject to the manufacturer's rules to keep manufacturers happy to keep the products coming. I guess I should have said that rather than saying the guy disobeyed the rules. You are correct.

I did scroll through the video before it was pulled. I don't know Cantonese so can't comment on that. My thoughts were that the yellow looks pretty good, better than I thought it would. However the lack of front logo is still odd and the light colored bezels (they say light grey but look more off white to me) are distracting. Maybe you get used to both, but it did stand out to me.
