Something tells me in the final design, those speaker and microphone holes will be laser cut so they aren't so large and get stuck with something.

They remind me of when I got an iMac and there were individual pieces of styrofoam stuck in about 50 of the holes on the bottom about that size lol

MagSafe would be a lifesaver. No more tripping and flying my iPhone across the room!

ROTFLMAO, at least someone else I know does it, also I prefer the Audio Jack and Charger jack on the bottom, hard to use headphones on top while charging on the bottom, restricts phone movement too much.

Bluetooth adapter for old peripherals?

Wasn't there some rumor of using Bluetooth 4 for peripherals? If so will there be an adapter for the old peripherals and make them BT4 devices? Apple never seams to stick with one connector type then messes up all the 3rd party vendors.

guidance

To me it looks like it's for guidance. Probably sloping edges so when you put in the connector it gets centered even if you're a millimeter off.

I am curious to see if the new connector gets USB 3.0 or even Thunderbolt!

Whatever the technology I vote for symmetry.

I don't get why everyone has such an issue with the speaker and the mic being different sizes. Personally I welcome a larger and better speaker!

Look at your current iPhone, there's a headphone jack off to the side, a sleep button off to another side and volume controls/mute on one side of the device. There's very little symmetrical about the iPhone already, and it doesn't need to be symmetrical to be beautiful or functional.

On the supposed new iPhone photo why around the headphone jack does it look choppy ? Almost like a bad photoshop especially if u zoom in the whole left side just looks off

People need to stop relating the strength of magsafe on a MBP to what would be used on an iPhone. Of course it wouldn't be the same, Apple isn't that stupid. You reduce the strength by using smaller magnets and less surface contact. Just enough to attract and release upon light force.

What can it not do? Please enlighten us
Not to sound snide, however the information is easily obtainable.

USB doesn't have all the signals used by the dock connector.

::EDIT:: This isn't all of them but gives an idea of what it has.

I hope it isn't magnetic.. lord knows how many times the cord has saved my phone's life...

I was thinking the same thing.

If that ring is a magnetic it might be to assist in proper alignment.

Or maybe it's some kind of inductive charging so they don't need pins for that. Maybe that's how they got down to now. (how long until that gets leaked from 'sources' on like Cult of Mac)

Yea no...Much better versatility with Micro-Usb, as opposed to proprietary connector from Apple that you need to buy a bunch of adapters for.

Micro usb is weaker. Micro usb is harder to plug in especially in a dock type config. Micro usb is not as versatile as the dock connector (though there are some variations on it that come closer). No one knows what the new dock connector will be able to do, but the current one has usb, serial, analog audio, analog video, and digital video in one connector that's easy to dock.

Speaker Grills

I really don't think the speaker grills are very Apple Like. These grills are not Jonny Ive's Design. Apple would never design grills for speakers like that. I can see if the grills were more along the line of the 15" MacBook Pro speaker grills.

Bluetooth v4 is backwards compatible. They will already work.

Pretty sure you can't do video through Micro-USB? I think that's why a lot of Android phones have mini-HDMI ports (or MHL).

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Exactly, people are acting as though all magnets are the same strength.

It also looks off as in not centered. Looking at the whole image enlarged, it does look like PS'd in areas but that could be from resampling.

Surely a magnet would be strong enough to just pull the entire device with the cable instead of just popping out? A magsafe cable on a Phone/iPod seems a bit pointless.

I think it would be more for convenience rather then protecting your device.

All those saying the phone looks wider, more likely it's an optical illusion. Pretty sure it's just closer to the camera.

The new phone looking wider is nice to see... If true then being so much taller won't make it look weirdly long!

Wahoo!

Edit: like someone else said it could be an optical illusion, looking at the picture it looks as though both phones are being help upright and upside down on a table, this would make the bottom of the new iPhone closer to the camera compared to the old one making the phone seem wider.
