Sprint has to pay people to use their network
There it is! There are always haters, Sprints network is very solid and has been tested to be within 1% reliability, while costing 20%+ less monthly and as we see here 45% less on the phones. Even if Sprint was paying for people to use it why would anyone care? In comparison to their Verizon and ATT counter parts Sprint customers will be $450 more rich.

Also with apple selling previous year models - the second hand market prices will stay relatively high.

3 years after the iPhone 5 came out I got a new sim free 32gb one for £150 off fleabay - probably a saving of £350. Or so, now? Probably waiting 6 years for a iPhone 8?

No but the battery’s are f’d in just over a year. My 6S+ for me does everything I want and runs iOS11 fantastically but the battery is screwed it’s currently reporting a capacity of 2300mah out of 2750mah but on some days it has read as low as 1800mah.

Yesterday I enabled low power mode at 20% and literally watched 8% battery just drop off in 5 minutes by scrolling my Twitter timeline.

So in May when I am due an upgrade I imagine the battery will be even more f’d and will literally force me to upgrade even if the phone itself is still working well.

It's like clockwork, My iPhone 5 battery ballooned out dangerously way back in July 2014, I had to get it replaced...but then upgraded to iPhone 6 Plus in Sept. Almost 2 years to the day in July 2016, once again the battery began to bulge, again I had to replace. But this time I skipped the 7.

I just replaced my own battery this past weekend again on the this 6 Plus. Kind of silly and terrible timing. I'm not sure if this battery I replaced is running ok to be honest, I had a few random reboots since last night...ugh!!

Other than that, my phone is darn good condition it's treated me well, lot of my new apps though are heavy on RAM, battery on this older phone. Not too sure how this 6 Plus will handle when IOS 11 comes out also. It's just time for an upgrade (No X, I can do 8 Plus) ....but do I expect the battery to swell again or fail in a year and 1/2, or 2. Eh, probably.

I remember when Apple users used to laugh at the fragmentation of Android. Now Apple seems to want to follow the same path with all these different versions of iphones with all these different features. Even introducing both an 8 and 10 models in the same year and skipping a 9. Weird.

That kind of approach will slow development down as the more devices they introduce, the more each update has to be tested on to ensure that everything works correctly on each device. Seems counterproductive.

It also makes it more difficult and complicated for everyone...from sales staff to customers to tech support staff, increased fragmentation introduces more complexity which again slows things down.

I feel the X was thrown out there because people are bored with existing designs and Apple wanted a tenth anniversary phone, not because it was really ready for the whole line. I don't think there are enough oled panel supply for that either right now. But that just makes things odd for a company that used to think keeping things simple was the way to go. Now they just keep getting more complex.

Stupid to keep the 6S and 6S Plus. There should've removed them.
Now the line up is too confusing and unnecessary fragmented.

I am not so sure I see the current offering as being unnecessarily fragmented or really that much different than last year's. Consider the following where CY = Curent Year model.

Last year, Apple sold:
7(CY), 6s (CY-1), 6 (CY-2), SE (smaller phone)

This year:
8 (CY), 7 (CY-1), 6s (CY-2), SE (smaller phone)

What has changed is that Apple added a "Limited availability" model iPhone X, which they believe is the future. So, I might call it model CY+1. It won't even be available for order until the end of October, and delivery won't begin until almost 2 months after the product announcement at the Keynote. Supply is expected to be very limited. So, this model will probably not be readily available until well into next year.

All the phones in the line up have 2 GB of ram.

When Jobs was asked to come back, Apple was weeks away from bankruptcy. An extreme focus on survival led to where they are now.

They won't hit another bull's eye anytime soon, if ever again. But they have the means to do whatever for a long time. They're no longer disruptors...

I kind of think it’s to help with having price points to attract buyers.

It’s important to understand that Apple sells devices all across the world. So, perhaps the 6S meets a certain price point to someone in a different country.

It has been several years since the iPhone was available in a binding single model, sold only thru' AT&T! Get over the scenario of old, the choice is wonderful now, from a 4" to a very large phablet!

If such a line-up with choices is confusing you, maybe your parent should get you a gift-wrapped iPhone and make you happy!

You miss the point. Apple users used to laugh at all the different sizes and feature sets of Android. Now all of a sudden that seems to be okay as long as Apple does it.

Kind of like the whole one small size which Apple claimed was all that was needed, with Apple even being critical of larger sized phones. Until they themselves started making them. Funny how that works.

Customer: how much is the iPhone?
Tim: how much do you have?

Tim has an iPhone for every price point. Makes it seems less premium imo.

What are the chances that Apple will bring Euro Prices more in line with the US prices? The Euro has been stronger for quite a while now.

I was in the same camp as you, however now with wireless charging, Apple have created a solution. I listen with headphones at work so I'll just get a generic Qi charger stand, and use the lightning to 3.5mm DAC adapter. Job done.
Yeah, a wireless charging cradle in a car would be good.

iPhone 8 Plus 64GB ordered for the bargain price of just €740 thanks to my operator giving me a discount. I was told the X would be about €1000 which is just too much for a phone. I can't justify that at all....Rock on next week!

An SE-sized iPhone X would be amazing although I know it would totally throw off Apple's pricing.

Yeah, I had a 6 and went to an SE. I like the computer that's on me at all times to be wee. If they took just the screen of the normal (well, medium to me) sized iPhone (so 6, 6s, 7, 8) and chopped off the top half inch and applied the design language of the X- that would result in an iPhone very nearly the same size as the original iPhone, but with an edge to edge 16:10 aspect ratio 4.2" display. The home screen would hold as many apps as an SE but slightly larger and more relaxed spacing... and it would be every much as one-handed friendly as the original iPhone and even more so than than the SE as this concept can be look at from the perspective of an SE with a .2" wider display, but no chin or forehead. I can dream anyway.
