Doesn’t matter. How do you not have the most popular sport in the US as a category. It’s half baked.
Because THERE IS NOTHING to display for it. This app only displays scores and standings, not news. There will be no scores or standings for months. It clearly says the NFL will be added when there is actually content to post for it.

Because they haven't added NFL yet since there'd be nothing to display for it. Why is this such a difficult concept for people to grasp?

People will legimitately defend Apple for any reason, lol. It's a terrible app that offers little to no value at the moment.

Still is half baked. Why can you just add the nfl teams to add as favorites regardless of if they are playing or not. Because it’s “simplified”. Please. Downloaded it. Deleted it

There isn't even an NFL schedule released yet for 2024 so even the upcoming tab would be empty. You'd think diehard NFL fans would know that.

I've said it before and sadly I'll say it again. Apple's apps need to be in the Store, updated by the Store. Even Microsoft gets this right these days. And they literally, admittedly, shamelessly copied Apple with the Windows Store.

Come on, Apple.
Even Google has been moving their apps to the store for years now in the effort to debloat Android and make it easier to update (and support devices for longer).

It's absolutely insane that you only get Safari/iMessage/FaceTime etc updates with OS updates.

Am I missing something, by how could they not include live scores through the Dynamic Island? Seems like a big miss if this isn't included.
Apple is only a small company and simply don't have the money or resources to support features of their own devices!

Fully agreed. Those first party apps should be updated year round on their own and not linked to the OS.

@Mackie924 your accusation that I defend apple for anything is looking more baseless by the second. I accept your apology.

I'm not sure about FaceTime/iMessage etc but Safari should be getting more updates than once a year. Maybe a major update every few months and monthly security/bug fixes.

Most apps on iOS should be downloadable from the store instead of relying on OS updates.

I don't know about you all, but I've been getting iOS updates, which include Safari updates, multiple times a year.

Aside from complaining that the app doesn't yet feature my sports, I can tell that Cue Ball has his grubby mitts all over this. I'd question how this frickwittery got past quality control - for some reason it logs my name against my App Store account and syncs across all devices, whereas the problem is my Apple ID is not the same as App Store account & no way to correct this, fantastic.

I legit thought it was because the NFL gets so pissy about how any of their content is provided etc. However, this makes much more sense lol (I admittedly didn't read the whole article.)

I'm happy that I was finally able to stop following a local NBA team. I don't even recall adding them as I don't follow NBA (MLB and NFL for me)/ Trying to remove them in the AppleTV app never seemed to work. However, the team was showing in the sports app so I promptly removed them from there. We'll see if I stop getting score updates now on my phone and my Apple TV box.

The "no live activities" refrain on here seems a bit overblown. Live activities are available through the TV app with the same favorites you select in this app, as well as the same data. Presumably, Apple will eventually move them to the Sports app. But it seems petty to care which app controls them.
I mean, not overblown. Very limited live activities on the TV app. While I can get live activities for my beloved Atlanta Braves, and MLB teams, I can’t do so for the NHL. So when I saw the new sports app, I thought, great. Going to have a simple app with scores and information, and definitely without a doubt absolutely 100% live activities. But no!

For soccer need all the Cups & tourneys- including international.
Need also individual sports - fights, tennis, etc.
College Bowls & tourneys- March Madness...

More one app / service by Apple that can be useful but only available for US and friends.

Hope new iOS 18 AI features will be worldwide available. In this Google (and others) wins.

Today was strange. Two baseball teams I have designated in the Sports app as favorites automatically started live activities on my 14’s Home Screen. I didn’t do anything. And two other teams I have designated as favorites also played today but no live activity started. No idea why.
