Anyone figure out how to get the live activity to start using this app? I have no idea how to get it started.

I downloaded it, but man, there are so many basic Apple things missing from the app right now. I'll keep it installed and hope for some updates down the road.
The problem here is that if it’s like Apple’s other apps, you’ll be waiting a long time for updates. Like once per year when the new iOS version comes out.

I've said it before and sadly I'll say it again. Apple's apps need to be in the Store, updated by the Store. Even Microsoft gets this right these days. And they literally, admittedly, shamelessly copied Apple with the Windows Store.

Come on, Apple.

Step 1: make a new sports tracking app
Step 2: include all the major european football leagues
Step 3: don't bother releasing it in Europe
👌
Step 2.5: Realize that there are lots of leagues, clubs and fans outside the "major" ones and add them.

I hope, anyway.

You could make that argument about nearly anything. "Oh, there are email apps...there are calendar apps...why would Apple do anything?" This is clearly a strategy about moving more into sports coverage. Rumor was they were bidding for NFL Sunday Ticket before Google won it. They clearly see monetization here.
Yes, but their Mail and Calendar apps are quite good.....

Haha. When Eddy, or any Apple exec, goes out of their way to say something like this, you know the app must have some issues with UI complexity. Sounds like it's been over-designed.
OVERdesigned?! It's so simple it doesn't actually include a lot of sports or teams which real sports fans would want to follow.

Looks like something someone who knows nothing about sport knocked up in their bedroom over the weekend....

FYI, the top male tennis player has made over $150M in prize money in his career. Sports like tennis and golf are not super niche sports no one cares about. In this case they’re just sports Eddy Cue doesn’t care about hence why they’re not included in the this crappy app.
I’m sure they’ll add more sports as they go along.

An incredibly lazy app. What does this offer that the DEDICATED sports tab on Apple News couldn't already do?
You could say, well it's about simplicity and cutting out all the other New crap. Ok... fine.
So where are Live Activities for REAL TIME sport scores and Dynamic Island support? Those features are designed for simplicity. Absolute amateur hour with Apple's internal app development teams.

Freeform is a joke and the Journaling app is pathetic.
Apple get your **** together and make something that is inspiring and useful.

What a steaming pile of cow dung. Do Apple know there is other football leagues other than the Premiership ? As a league one fan this app is totally useless. Elitism at its finest. Keep up the good work Apple!

This app is nearly identical to “FotMob” I hope Apple realise ripping off someone’s app is wrong.

I don’t need this app because I’ve only cared about one team since I was a boy: The Kansas City Chiefs. And for the past six years, my cup runneth over.

I want the sports tab that I never use on the news app moved to this app so I never have to see it again. I don’t see why sports should get a special slot on the app when other categories don’t.

It's odd it's limited to a few countries. Even if it doesn't cover leagues in every country, we still have a lot of interested in the sports within these countries. Like a global interested in NHL or Premier League.

This a logi we're too dumb as a spieces to understand 🥲

If you read the article, it's made quite clear those will be added. NFL is not in season, so the fact it doesn't have games listed isn't a big deal. This isn't supposed to be ESPN, with storylines, more about checking scores and standings and getting out.
Doesn’t matter. How do you not have the most popular sport in the US as a category. It’s half baked.
