Except that I'm on unlimited data and the Next program simply does not work cost wise with those who are on Unlimited data. With the 2 year contract upgrades and 4 lines on my account, I never have to pay anything out of pocket for a new phone each year with the re-selling of the previous gen. None of these new payment options can compare to that.

I can do that with the next plan and upgrade every year.

This is just a WAG based on experience from last year... go with the app. Last year I couldn't get on the website, but my buddy used the app. Infact.. I ordered through AT&T before he did on the app , and his phone still got here before mine.

I know that's more of a comparison of AT&T vs the app, but I have heard better results from the app vs the site. Just my 2 cents.

New to the iPhone pre-order game. I currently have no cell phone carrier I am tied to via contract. I've spoken with AT&T and I've passed their credit check and such. Am I able to start a new account with AT&T online via the Apple site if I am able to get a pre-order?

It's AT&T. They want to get people off contracts.

AT&T announced they were doing away with 2 year agreements a few months ago in phases. You will be able to get them in stores only when complete.
