Why, oh why, couldn't they have offered the SE in 128 GB? I have a 5S at 64 GB, and all that "Other" category (that I can't seem to delete or erase or reduce) is taking up 15 GB. My iPad is 128 GB, and I have 40 GB to spare. (That includes loading it with many movies.) Why the limitation on the SE? Now I am torn between an oversized 6S or 6S Plus (and mucho dollars), or an SE than provides the same storage space as my two-year-old 5S. Sometimes I really hate Tim Cook's price margins (considering how overpriced GB storage is on Apple products).

I suspect it's because in the smaller SE case there was no room for doubling the memory. It's not like Apple would not want to charge you for it if it were possible.

I was so ready to order a new 4" iPhone for my wife and daughter, but with such marginal upgrades that have little effect on their browsing and occasional photos, there is no reason.

Apple will sell a lot of them with support for the Pencil, a much better display with a wider color gamut, True Tone technology, better audio, smart connector for better keyboard support, 12 Mpixel camera, much faster faster A9X processor, faster wireless, etc, all in a smaller package that will be more manageable for many. Other than that, yup, it's just like your old iPad Air.

Apple will sell a ton of iPhone SEs as well.

Perhaps a Sanyo or Samsung tablet would work better for you? Operators are standing by...

Time will tell, but my bets that they won't be anywhere near sales of previous iPads. I've always upgraded every other iPad (owned the original, iPad 3, and currently Air). I waited an extra 6mo to upgrade (didn't want the first pro as it was too big) and have decided not to. Never said the platform was dead, just that this revision (based on an extended cycle of 1.5 years vs 1 year) was very underwhelming. I plan on getting another iPad, just won't be this version (I'll wait another year or two).

I looked forward to buying the new iPad purely for the stylus but Apple got way too greedy with the pricing. I'm actually looking at getting a Surface now. I never thought I would say those words.
Have fun with running AV software on there, along with processor fan. Not to mention just the anxiety of looking at a Windows desktop. This is coming from someone who uses both OS's daily.

You seemed very unhappy and angry in your post I responded to. Better to find products that will bring you happiness. Especially since you'll have to tolerate your current two year old tech for an additional two years, rather than enjoying something you can purchase today that is substantially faster, with new features, and better performing.

If Apple has let you down to the extent you claim, certainly there must be other brands out there that are offering much better performance and features, handily kicking Apple's butt, right? Why not just get one of those?

Yup. I've bought every iteration of the iPad, and my Air had its screen shattered by my 2 year old. I've been waiting for this but... Nope. Not worth $599 to me.

I've been using my iPad mini 4 in the meantime and will continue using it until the next release or someone cuts the price on this by $100.

I'm done with the Apple treadmill.

While slightly higher RAM would have been nice (as future proofing), I'm still using an iPad 4 so this update will be huge for me. The performance difference will be night and day. Can't wait!

Yeah same, will be getting the iPad Pro, finally something worthwhile to upgrade too!!!

Lol, don't see how you inferred anger from my post. I was just merely stating that based off the iterative releases we've been getting for the 9.7" iPad, this included the least significant changes (considering they're asking for an extra $100 and it took an extra half cycle to get it out to us). Again, just an opinion. I still enjoy my Air (using it for these posts) and noting that this is the first biennial release that I won't be jumping on and seeing how iPad sales have stagnated, it's not looking good for Apple when people that WERE planning on upgrading decide to hold out. My bet is that we'll see a $100 price drop (back to the $499 price point) within 6mo.

I'm gonna be a sucker and stay on it :) I put my 64 Air 2 up for sale today with a warranty, so I'll pay around 300 for the new 128gb Pro after the sale. I would've liked to see more RAM, but I've been upgrading my iPads every year since owning them, so I'll probably do the same with this one next year.

A9X, a better display, 4 speakers, 4K video, pencil support, more storage - there's enough here to make it a nice upgrade.

And how much is the surface? I'm ok with the price. Pissed off with the 2 GB ram... :( I'm buying the iPad Pro. Gingerly...

What goes up, must come down
Shows down still in uk for me. Got to refresh.

I really like the SE and think it has its place in the market, and also that it was genius to have it fit in 5 cases. BUT, they should have found a way to remove or minimize the ceramic strip. It's painfully 2012 in my eyes and really 4 years in phone design years might as well be half a century.

So, what you're saying is that I can't buy quicktime pro for a few more hours because some unrelated product is being released tomorrow? Oh come on, come up with a better website model.

I was planning on upgrading before the announcement. A dubious amount of RAM and USB 2 for a price of almost $2k does not seem worth it.
I'm not sure that this is the apple we want them to be.
Maybe a boycott would make them rethink their strategy?
Totally agree. I'm boycotting too!

I want to buy the new 9.7'', but the more I read the forums of Macrumors the harder it gets, lol.
This forum hosts a resident community of haters: it's very useful for help, but don't rely on it for buying advice.
The best thing to do is to try one personally and then decide by yourself.
Everyone saying "don't buy it just have 2 Gb of RAM" make me laugh loud.
They clearly don't know what they are speaking about and just follow the ridiculous android path (more equals to better).
Try one by yourself, you'll be astonished by performance and quality.

For the price, I don't like the Apple's price policy today, especially outside US.
But you are the only one knowing if you can afford it or not.
