I was so ready to order a new 4" iPhone for my wife and daughter, but with such marginal upgrades that have little effect on their browsing and occasional photos, there is no reason.

Marginal? Every single aspect of the phone is better when compared to the 5s. The 2 generation jump in processors and the 2GB RAM alone are reason enough to upgrade.

Seriously, the SE will be the longest lasting iPhone to date. I can see this thing lasting at least five years. 5S you've maybe got another two before it becomes unusable.

His talking about Australian dollars . Take the top spec At $1700aud and add a pencil and a cover and you got what he stated of almost $2k

A world outside of the USA... ;)
I perfectly understand that... but still, don't forget the exchange rate and that taxes are included, unlike a certain country *cough* *cough*.

Oh, and I live in Canada, so I perfectly understand them... But they're still exaggerating.

I was considering the 9.7" Pro until the RAM revelation. Sure, 2GB is plenty for most people. But this thing needs to be able to run the same Pro software the big one does. That means larger canvases, more layers, and advanced apps yet to be developed. Now it has the same RAM as the cheapest iPhone ever.

You see, by limiting this model, devs won't want to invest in building high-end apps for the more niche 12.9" model which has the specs to handle complex tasks. 9.7" is where the market and money is at for developers and as it stands now, the needle isn't being pushed forward vs. just using an iPad Air 2. So I'll continue to do that because it's still a really great iPad and plenty fast for ordinary tasks. I'm just disappointed because I was ready for things to be taken to the next level with regard to content creation capabilities.

The Apple Pencil is cool and I want one but between modest performance increases, a camera I'll never use, speakers I don't care about, $100 extra cost, case incompatibility costing $69 for a case and $49 for a cover, and $99 for the Pencil—the costs add up quick! For me the 128GB model would cost $966 to get the Pencil and better display with a slightly faster processor, and that doesn't include tax. No thank you! I'll wait for version 2 or 3. Besides, that will give Apple time to either develop Pro software for it and/or make iOS better suited for content creation and project management.

If you're in the market for an iPad and don't need to draw, get the Air 2. It's a great deal right now and will be supported for years to come. It is excellent and Apple will sell craploads at $399, just like the iPhone SE.
You underestimate iOS's ram management. It's very good. 2GB is plenty for this iPad.

Logged on at 3:10AM EDT and snagged a Space Gray SE for me and a Rose Gold for the missus. Both are 64 GB SIM-free. The 2 GB was the last hurdle and once that was known, it was a done deal. One of my coworkers has a 4-1/2 year old 4S running the latest iOS and these should do that for five years as well. FWIW, I bought my last SE in 1987 to get through grad school. 800 KB floppy, 20 MB hard drive, Imagewriter II with ThunderScan, and Apple 1200 baud modem. Used that one for six years.

Exactly! $2K? Ridiculous! Where do they come off charging $3K? I sure as hell ain't paying no $4K for no iPad. Please. Five thousand dollars for a slab of pixels...blah! The nerve of asking $6K!
Th-thanks for that.

I think it will be interesting to see what the iPhone 7 brings to the table now. Apple haven't really done anything 'new' for the past few years and with the iPhone SE actually being a pretty good deal, sales of the 7 might be down slightly. Of course I'm wrong, but I think it'll be interesting to see what happens all the same.

Apple has taken its online storefront down in order to prepare for the launch of iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro orders, which will likely begin at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time or 3:01 a.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, March 24. Orders will be available on Apple's site, through the Apple Store app, and through carrier websites.

Apple will accept orders for the two devices in first wave launch countries that include Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands, and the US.

The iPhone SE is available in 16 and 64GB capacities in the United States, with pricing that starts at $399 for an outright purchase. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro is available in 32, 128, and 256GB capacities with prices that start at $599. Both Wi-Fi and Cellular models are available.

Supplies of the iPhone SE and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro are likely to be adequate and we do not expect the devices to sell out. Nevertheless, customers planning to purchase should do so right away just in case.

Deliveries on orders placed today are expected to begin on March 31, which is also the day when the two devices will be available for in-store purchase.

[doublepost=1458812146][/doublepost]I want an iphone because of awesome apps, but can anyone tell me when Apple is going to start having screens that actually reach to the edge instead of that huge old border around the screen.
It looks ancient these days. Is it coming in iphone 7 at least.

Why, oh why, couldn't they have offered the SE in 128 GB? Why the limitation on the SE? Now I am torn between an oversized 6S or 6S Plus (and mucho dollars), or an SE than provides the same storage space as my two-year-old 5S.
Because you're not the typical SE customer. People who are fine with using smaller screens also tend to use much less storage space. And people who decide to buy a new phone after just two years tend to want the best and biggest shiny new thing available.

I looked forward to buying the new iPad purely for the stylus but Apple got way too greedy with the pricing. I'm actually looking at getting a Surface now. I never thought I would say those words.
I feel the same. I do love my iPad Pro with keyboard and pencil. But at this point, their strategy is clearly about "no innovation, change barely a few things, and expect people to buy" but their competition is thinking outside the box and it shows.

You underestimate iOS's ram management. It's very good. 2GB is plenty for this iPad.
It's not about RAM management. It's about using nearly all of it (less the amount used by the OS) in a single instance while editing a single file using professional grade software. That is very limiting on this model vs. the 12.9" model. Obviously Apple felt 4GB was important and that Pro iOS apps needed it or they wouldn't have put it into the 12.9" Pro. Adding to that, iOS is only going to get more bloated over the coming years with the base model iPhone having 2GB.

This whole idea that Apple has settled on recently that smaller screen size equates to less RAM, less storage, slower CPU is starting to get old. Now I understand that the apparently god given rule for all day battery life is unbreakable, and it makes some sense for iPads and iPhones, but I for one would like to choose slightly thicker for better performance versus super thin and lower performance.

Both my wife and I are considering upgrading to the SE, (from 4s and 5s) because the SE is the first new phone that does not feel flimsy. At least if it is built as well as my 5s. Can't wait to see the SE in person.

I've bought every iteration of the iPad, and my Air had its screen shattered by my 2 year old. I've been waiting for this but... Nope. Not worth $599 to me. I've been using my iPad mini 4 in the meantime and will continue using it until the next release or someone cuts the price on this by $100. I'm done with the Apple treadmill.
Oh, sure you are. That's why you continue to use your less than 200 days old iPad, before you buy yet another new iPad, after having owned every iPad so far, except for the current iPad, which you absolutely won't buy unless someone offers you a marginally price cut or otherwise you will buy your next iPad earliest in the fall. No wonder iPad sales are plummeting.

So you're going from and iPad Air 1 16gb and the new pro ships with 32gb. There, that's your extra $100.

Oh and you get all this throw away stuff as well:

Double the speakers (stereo/surround)
7.1 Dolby surround support
6x cpu performance since air 1
Probably 8x-10x gpu performance
Apple Pencil support
300% resolution increase on camera
Camera flash
Smart connector capabilities for accessories
Ambient light sensors for true color tones based on environment
The brightest, widest color gamut on any apple device in existence
Touch ID
M9 Coprocessor for "Hey Siri" support and health stuff
20% thinner
~15-20% lighter

Yeah, least improved, um , NOT!

Too rich for my tastes.
I can afford it but, almost $1100 for a tablet (128GB) and pen + Apple care.
I just can't hit the buy button.

I'll wait for a refurb.

Ya, great comparison. To a 2.5 year old iPad. Shocking how much has progressed /s

I changed my mind... I would recommend you sell your iPad Air and pickup an original iPad off eBay and pocket that $100 difference. It seems the only feature that's not a throw away to you is backlit screen...

I have the 128G with cell, any other suggestions I can toss away?

Well played, adding items to get close to 2k...not to mention a different country as well.

No new redesigned MacBook whatever and no affordable iPad Pro Cellular with enough storage.

Good for my bank account. :D
