probably just clearing the akamai DNS caches .. residue from last weeks DNS failure perhaps?

My guess is that they're upgrading the servers for heavy site traffic when the iPhone 5 pre-order page goes live. Anyway, it's working here in SD - finally.

Many of the MacBook pro's are not currently available (13 and entry 15). Also low end iMacs and Mac pro ??....
 
Weird, I disabled Opera's Turbo Mode and it loaded. It's working in IE too. (USA)

Yep... Lion;)

Virtually every single Apple product that gets released nowadays gets booed for the first month or two, then people settle down and start enjoying the product. It's getting quite tiring.
