Forgive me if this has already been asked. Bought a new Mac and qualify for free Mountain Lion upgrade. Once I get it, will I be able to put it on my other Macs too, or will I have to pay anyway? Not that $20 is a big deal, but jumping through hoops to get a free copy is, if it has to be purchased anyway.
Since I was in a mall this a.m., I stopped by the Apple Retail Store and copied down the serial numbers of three of their retina display MBPs on display. We'll see if those serials have been blocked or if they yield a Mountain Lion upgrade when the time comes.
its live on the app store OMG OMG
No. One upgrade for your new machine. Any others and you have to buy it. It's been heavily discussed on these boards.
Yes. The online code you receive from the "up-to-date program" is essentially a voucher for a free Mountain Lion in the App Store. Once you redeem the code, it's as if you purchased Mountain Lion, and is available for download/install on any computer using that particular Apple ID.I have a new Macbook Air which qualifies for the free OSX upgrade. I also have an older iMac running Snow Leopard. Can I upgrade the iMac without paying for the ML upgrade once I upgrade the MB Air?
I'm still confused here guy. I bought mine directly from the official online store. What is my proof of purchase? Is it the email they send immediately after you order with the pricing and all?
And one more question, my friend help me bought that mac, so he used his name, email and apple id to buy it. Do I need to fill the form with his personal information to claim ML or can I just use my own?![]()
I also got the 2 emails, but when I try and redeem my code this AM (after Mountain Lion went live), I receive the same message that this code is not valid.
Mine ends ....P6 so i hope its a system issue rather than duplicate codes being sent outMine also says that it has already been used. Mine ends on ...A3. I wonder if they send the same code to a bunch of people.
