Mountain Lion ?

Forgive me if this has already been asked. Bought a new Mac and qualify for free Mountain Lion upgrade. Once I get it, will I be able to put it on my other Macs too, or will I have to pay anyway? Not that $20 is a big deal, but jumping through hoops to get a free copy is, if it has to be purchased anyway.

No. One upgrade for your new machine. Any others and you have to buy it. It's been heavily discussed on these boards.

Since I was in a mall this a.m., I stopped by the Apple Retail Store and copied down the serial numbers of three of their retina display MBPs on display. We'll see if those serials have been blocked or if they yield a Mountain Lion upgrade when the time comes.

I actually went in to do the same thing, but decided just to yank the RMBPs entirely instead.

Used up my good luck for the year.

Bought my Mac Mini on 6/12, one day after deadline.

Guess I won't buy any more mega millions tickets since I only get one piece of random good luck a year!

Really looking forward to ML; sounds like a great update. Assuming it's tomorrow or Wednesday!

I don't think that is correct. Just like any apple app you purchase, you can sign in and redownload it on another Mac, iPhone or iPad.

I just bought two macs and I am sure that Apple will give me one code to purchase the free upgrade then I will be able to login on each machine and upgrade.

When I click the link in the article on my iPad I get taken to the iTunes store (uk) where the first album is 'Tomorrow never knows' by the Beatles. It was also the main banner album when the store came up. I am not making this up. Just done it twice in a row. Doesn't happen on my MBP.

And the album appears to have been added today!

I'm still confused here guy. I bought mine directly from the official online store. What is my proof of purchase? Is it the email they send immediately after you order with the pricing and all?
And one more question, my friend help me bought that mac, so he used his name, email and apple id to buy it. Do I need to fill the form with his personal information to claim ML or can I just use my own?

I have a new Macbook Air which qualifies for the free OSX upgrade. I also have an older iMac running Snow Leopard. Can I upgrade the iMac without paying for the ML upgrade once I upgrade the MB Air?
Yes. The online code you receive from the "up-to-date program" is essentially a voucher for a free Mountain Lion in the App Store. Once you redeem the code, it's as if you purchased Mountain Lion, and is available for download/install on any computer using that particular Apple ID.

Yes, the proof of purchase would be the email. For the second bit, I'm in the same boat--I asked by father to put it on his credit card, and therefore, his name comes up. I'm just going to use my name; I don't think it matters.

got the 2 emails, opened the PDF, got the redeem code

Now the App storage says my code has already been redeemed! Anyone else having this issue?

I also got the 2 emails, but when I try and redeem my code this AM (after Mountain Lion went live), I receive the same message that this code is not valid.

Same here. My codes I got earlier this week are not working.

This code has already been used. Each code may only be used once.

Mine also says that it has already been used. Mine ends on ...A3. I wonder if they send the same code to a bunch of people.

Tried looking through the thread a bit and didn't see if anyone else had this issue. But I used the Up-To-Date form on Monday when it was up for a while and received my password protected PDF email but not the second email to unlock it. Has anyone else had this issue?

Mine ends ....P6 so i hope its a system issue rather than duplicate codes being sent out

Ok, that is something of a relief. Still frustrating. What I don't like is the "already been used" part in stead of an "this code is unknow" error. I wonder how they messed up. I have sent a support request via email. Hopefully, Apple will hear about this issue soon.
