This is absurd. I submitted my request at 930am. I got the code an hour later, but of course it doesn't work. I instantly submitted a support request and have had no response, not that it will matter.

I don't understand why there needs to be these redemption code hoops in the first place. The info we submit is enough for them to simply activate the download on our Apple ID. Even then, it doesn't make sense that it is taking five hours to regenerate codes.

The funny thing is that I made a post on the official Apple forums joking about how easy it is to download from bittorrent and my post was removed in 20 minutes. They sure know their priorities.

I agree. I should be able to go to my "Purchased" tab and click download...

Probably Not, I highly doubt that any retailer (Apple retail, Bestbuy or otherwise) received Mac shipments with Mountain Lion pre-installed in the last few days. I have no way of guaranteeing that but i can assure that Apple retail would probably have machines with ML installed in stock before Bestbuy will

Agreed. Waiting a few days or longer not only avoids the headache of overloaded servers, but also lets you learn about problems or maybe even get a patched version.

I decided to go through with the trick to resubmit on the UTD page. I had to upload a copy of my "receipt" (I took a screenshot of my apple store invoice). Let's see if this speeds anything up.

If you try to re-submit your serial number, it will tell you that the serial is already submitted. However, if you click submit many times, it takes you to a page to upload your receipt and re-submit.

What does hungry people have to do with the mac os mountain lion free upgrade program??

Another question,

Why are you blaming most of us for the hungry people in the world? In my case, I had to upgrade to a mac so that I can keep up with my job's files in a better way than Windows.

Another question,

If you are so worried about people being hungry, why don't you make the first step, sell your mac on eBay and use the money to feed hungry people?
