So will a Mac with an advanced ax/arm soc be enough for people that want a trackpad or mouse , a real keyboard with a bigger screen for ergonomic reasons to manage spreadsheets, email, write letters, light gaming, social media, etc be enough? I think so.
That is where the mainstream PC market is heading right now.

So an ax/arm macbook would be kinda like an Apple chromebook?

All you can talk about is very high end PC' s for a small specific /niche market.

Shipment data from pc world:

"Worldwide Chrome PC shipments in 2015 are expected to surpass those in 2014, according to IDC. Chrome PCs accounted for 2.8 percent of all PCs shipped worldwide through the first three quarters in 2015. For all of 2014, Chrome PCs accounted for 1.9 percent of all PCs shipped."

It seems like those arm powered devices might be the 'niche market', not the intel notebooks.

If most pc users aren't purchasing the chrome pc, why would we think that mac and pc users will buy ax/arm macbooks in large numbers?

None of my Roku 3 devices have ads in any place other than the homescreen. Maybe "ads on the screensaver" are specific to a particular screensaver. THAT could be why fans aren't throwing a fit about it... the rest of us aren't seeing them.

If you want to be restricted to only those channels that Apple allows and have a higher percentage of them with "polish" then yes, Apple TV is for you. I prefer the openness of the Roku where I get to choose the channels and determine if dealing with the lack of "polish" is worth the content that the channel provides.

It was the default screen saver. Anyways I have the best of both worlds. I have Roku for those few apps I can't get on Apple TV like Amazon Video and Playstation Vue.

Pent up demand for new MacBook Pros now. We're going to see a big surge for back to school, or whenever the Skylake models come out.

No worries, demand will go down - who said the law of supply and demand was natural and unable to be manipulated?

Looks like Apple's going for 1000 days without updating the Mac Pro https://buyersguide.macrumors.com//#Mac_Pro

Do they care, have they given up on computers...

iPads aren't computers or made with the same stuff a low-end computer could be made with?! Well, they aren't as useful and are highly locked down to prevent customers from having freedom...

Apple ceased caring about the Mac a good while back, current range speaks volumes, nor is the upcoming looking to be much better. IOS and it`s devices are are Apple`s primary concern; cheaper to design produce with far better margins.

The passion that brought the Mac and OS X to life, has been replaced by little more than corporate greed, lead by a CEO who openly denounces the personal computer in favour of the iPad. So we can expect to pay more for less, be guaranteed ever thinner at the cost of usability and utility, as time passes Apple is simply becoming far less relevant in the PC space...

Q-6

Not for people that do video editing, 3D modelling/rendering, animation, gaming, etc. These people want performance, not old tech at nonsensical prices.
But but but specs don't matter :-/

I use revit for work so i need a very powerful laptop with dedicated graphics.

However I want good batter life as well and it needs to be semi-portable.

The Dell XPS 15 Looks to be the best on the market out of all laptops but you only get 6 hours battery life. So i'm waiting to see what apple offers.

Hears to hoping they release a respectable PROFESSIONAL Laptop.

I'm so sick of waiting for a truly next gen MBP. I'll buy it when it comes out. But my 2010 is showing its age. I can barely multitask anymore. These characters in this post are showing up in bursts as I export some pictures.
