Ping was a failure from the start. I don't see why Apple even released it. I don't think I knew anyone that actually used it. Maybe some of the people that fail to remember that anything ever failed under Jobs will see this a realize that maybe Apple wasn't perfect before Cook was in charge.

I think this is conclusive evidence that social media is dead, as if apple can't make it work then no-one else can!

Except, well, all the people that have made it work. I think that the 950,000,000 Facebook users might disagree that social media is dead.

I just opened iTunes and saw it was still there, and then right in front of my two eyes it disappeared forever. It was such a happy feeling. 😀

It may have gone from the Store menu, but it's still showing in the sidebar under STORE (although it throws an Unknown Error (-50) if you click it)

Why am I not surprised that 20 or so posts in and not one began with

"As an avid user of Ping I will miss....."

Ping can now rest comfortably next to the Newton and compare "If only"stories 🙂

The updated media application will show albums in a grid interface with song listings unfolding below the album cover art when clicked.

It's not out yet, and I already know I'll never use the grid view. Ever.

And it's October now, I wonder if the update will be end of the month or sooner.

Used it for a few days when it first came out and then stop using it ever since. It will not be missed.
