Existing Products please!!!

Please refresh your existing products, and lower the existing prices. Right now apple needs to update their existing products and fix the small bugs with them. I am all for new toys to make all of our lives easier but don't put out any new ones till the existing ones work perfect ie time capsule, mobile me, and iphone. I am a stock holder just look at the numbers, in times of economic hardship lower the margins, make a little less profit, and you will attract new buyers, and beat the market. :)

There is some soundness in what he says, but Apple is becoming known for bringing in products straight out of left field, that people look at and go 'Why didn't I think of that?'
People like Arik Hesseldahl.

Exactly. I don't know who this guy is, but probably the sort of person who looks at companies, sees 90% of them doing something and then says "Ah, that's how this should be done".

:) We don't need touch screen and all that for Macs. True, a separate tablet Mac would be seriously cool, but concentrating on improving the existing product types would be better. The notebook and desktop keyboard and mouse system is perfect, in my opinion. It allows for indirect manipulation of the interface (so you can see everything) and means you can be a lot more accurate with selecting things.

But basically I'm saying we don't need change for no good reason. Multi-touch on smaller devices is awesome (iPhone and a tablet etc.). Faster, cheaper, better. That's the way. :D

While I wouldn't give up on my keyboard, I can't help but think how much simpler it would be to just reach out my hand and adjust volume, forward the video or switch to a different song... basically replacing mouse with fingers, at least for tasks that do not require much precision. Not that I'm waiting for when will Apple finally give it to us, but I'd like it if it came :p.

Even if Apple have reached product plateau there is further opportunity to take on MS at the OS Level. Shrink wrap OS-X to allow people to run it on generic Intel hardware (PC's), instead of the proprietary Mac HW. (remember NeXTStep). This would be a real shot in the arm for MS

I suggest you look up the meaning of the expression "shot in the arm". It means the opposite to what you think it means.

Significant Product Transition

Have we seen the "significant product transition" that was alluded to in the summer and which would cause a drop in Apple's profit margins?

Blu-Ray drives for all the new Mac desktops and laptops at no additional cost?

This has already been raised. Apple would then loose money because people after OS X will just buy a $600 Dell or HP laptop with OS X, not a $1200 MacBook, which is where all the profit comes from.

Which raises the question, why would people, who do not desperatly want the OSX experince, buy a Mac ?

I'm sold , I love the Mac OS, even though it's bloated, yet I can't help but notice that they don't make a competitive professional laptop, offer too little choice in that segment, and sell their products at a premium, with mediocre customer service.

I want mobile computing. Things like the EEE PC and the new Dell micro-laptop are all the rage, especially for those of us who don't need the full power of a laptop and don't want to part with $1,000.

I had really hoped at the last announcement that the ipod touch would be the 'mobile computer of the future' - instead Steve turned it into an expensive gameboy. sigh
