Remember when the iMac included a cloth with the instructions.

Now you gotta add the cleaning cloth right when you upgrade your MBP power brick. Apple thrist for ancillary sales never goes away

Should be included in the air fare for the M1 ship

Who do you expect does all the work? Dobby the house elf?

If it polishes out the microscrstches on the screen it could be good. I don’t think so
But then again why would Apple call it a polishing cloth

This is the same cloth that came with my Pro XDR display.

We are only supposed to use that specific cloth to clean our nano displays and if we lost the cloth, we had to contact Apple to get another one and pay $19. I've had to do this as not to risk damaging my display coating with a generic microfiber towel.

This is just a GUESS, but I'm going to assume perhaps they put this available because enough people were contacting customer support to order the cloth to replace their old ones.

It definitely does not feel like a regular microfiber towel. Its a ton more softer.

What does this "special magic material" do that any other good quality microfiber doesn't? Or is this a case of The Emperor's New Cloths?

From videos it seems to be thicker than most microfiber cloths and pretty good quality (maybe not $20 worth, but still). I guess there is a market for those who want to make sure their multi-thousand dollars screen are guaranteed to be cleaned without any unintentional problems.

Seriously, I wonder if it is any good (like, really good) at removing fingerprints etc, without the use of any kind of cleaning liquid.
That would be very useful, actually.

Also, I wonder if it is washable. (That would suit the "sustainable Apple" narrative really well).
I use a highly proprietary cleaning liquid - condensation from my breath.

Jokes aside, what do you guys use to clean your macbook screens? My 2019 16 macbook pro screen is filthy..
I've been using this stuff for 20+ years now and it's always done a great job with cleaning all of my e- and i- devices.
At one point, it cost $20, came with an 8oz bottle of non-harse cleaning solution, traveling wipes and a large double-sided microfiber cloth.

But wet polishing isn't good either. (I remember getting a small metal particle on my Treo phone, and the stylus picked it up, and wow did it leave a scratch! Steve was right to want to avoid styli. I stratched the hell out of a pair of sunglasses even after dousing them with glass cleaner juice. Suckage happens)
I never scratched my glasses when cleaning them. A couple of decades ago I remember seeing my optician after about 8 years wearing a single pair of glasses (this would have been before plastic lenses had fancy scratch-resistant coatings), and she was shocked at how pristine the lenses looked. I explained that I only cleaned them with soap and warm running water. I ran the water over them first to remove the bigger grit particles, and then only pressed very lightly at first with the soap while under the faucet in case there were any left, before rubbing more vigorously.

Obviously you can't do that with a computer screen, but I apply the same progressive approach, using wet cleaning cloths applied very lightly, and then new wet cloths applied more strongly if there are still spots left.

I still have the cloths that came with it. I wonder if the Apple cloth is similar to the big blue chamois cloth that came in this kit. It was different than the microfiber it came with and it was much softer.

If it is, then I have the next best thing and it's larger!

I actually bought a bottle of iKlear last year and it's almost halfway used. Amazing stuff!

Just picked this up at the store alongside my 14 inch
The guy didn't even know it existed and I basically said I was buying it for the memes lmao, It's a high quality cleaning cloth, not much else to say

Only going to use it for my new machine probably

Is it just me or are the cloths suddenly unavailable for store pickup again worldwide?
