All I can think is you must be proper stupid if you buy this.
Well, the Pro Display XDR has a specialty finish on its display that might get scratched by normal microfiber cloths. And, IIRC, either the new iMac or one of the new MacBook Air/Pro models use the same finish. Owning one of those devices (or planning on owning one in the near future) would be a valid reason to own one.

But, let’s be honest. People made a meme out of it (“$20 cleaning cloth, lol look at the Apple Tax”), some people embraced the meme, and MacRumors definitely perpetuated and fueled the meme.

the thought that there are people who think like this around me driving cars is frightening.
It's not that they're driving cars that bothers me. It's that they're allowed to clothe themselves, feed themselves, have and raise children, AND drive cars!

Actually, that doesn't bother me. I think God has a sense of humor. It's gonna get really funny very soon!

Wait, the only cleaning cloth approved to clean the $1000 surface coating on a $6000 monitor isn’t good in your opinion. ?
Yep, it’s neither quick nor effective, it does however serve to make the Watch straps and smart folios look excellent value.

Oh, and check out the compatibility list for the cloth. I pity anyone who actually checked to make sure their model was listed.....
I did look out of curiousity and it's not compatible with my 2010 MacBook Pro I just replaced. Or iPhone 5 or earlier, but my 6S is still compatible! ?

I have a mid-2015 15" MacBook Pro that I bought in July 2018 just before they were discontinued. Daily, I use BoulderClean spray disinfectant cleaner on the keyboard with a microfiber cloth to wipe dry, and Leader spray spectacle lens cleaner and then a water wipe on the screen with perk® ultra soft paper tissues to gently wick it dry. Never seen a scratch on the screen. The spectacle lens cleaner is a non-alcohol based cleaner.

Wiping a surface without wetting it down is a recipe for disaster. What you are doing there is moving hard pieces of debris across the surface and scratching it. Liquid softens these pieces of debris so that can be removed without scratching the surface. There are many microfiber cloth types on the market that are readily available at a micro fraction of the cost that Apple is charging. And remember, you must continually hand wash these cloths to remove the debris you have picked up. Don't wash them in a washing machine. It leaves detergent residue within the cloth.

Clearly it sells. Regardless of MacRumors members internet opinions. I’d bet money 3 out of 5 people bashing it bought one.

Caught me. And I'm using it as a prop for photos I take on my iPhone™ and send people to notify them that I was here for the peak in consumerism in the 21st century. Perhaps the peak in post-WW2 American hegemony. You were here for it. What are the odds you would be alive at the same time the Apple Polishing Cloth™ was available at retail? That you could pay for someone to manufacture it in China and ship it all the way to your house in multiple layers of packaging? During a period of relative peace. It's quite amazing really. And it's all down from here, friends. Cherish it.

Don't buy one. Its been out for too long. A new revised and upgraded version is coming out soon enough. It can polish 10% faster than the previous one. Plus they will come in colors! They will be slightly more expensive but its new so just buy it.

I can't tell you how disappointed I am that the MacRumors buyer's guide doesn't include the cloth! How in the world am I supposed to know when a cloth with a higher thread count will be released?????!!!!!

There is a video on YouTube that shows the difference between the Apple Polishing Cloth and regular microfiber cloth using electron microscopy. Seems like there are some differences compared to the regular cloths at the microscopic scale. Might be interesting to some of you.

That was interesting. Now I'm wondering how they manufacture it because it's so random how the fibers and structure are arranged. Also I feel like this validated my opinion that the Apple polishing cloth does a much better job cleaning my screen than other cloths I have used. It would be cool if he did a camera lens polishing cloth to see if they have similar structure.
