I know it's easy to make fun of this product, but genuinely these cloths are made of exceedingly premium materials that will clean and protect your precious devices. Other cloths literally fall part the moment you use them, scratching up your screens and leaving dangerous residues on the surface. Paying $19 to avoid this catastrophe is well worth the money.

Most of us spend thousands of dollars on Apple devices every year. Is dropping $100 on a few exceedingly premium cleaning cloths really a bad investment to protect those devices?

I certainly wouldn't trust me $4000 MacBook Pro with some $1 cloth i found on Amazon. Nor my iPhone. Nor my iPad. Nor my Apple Watch. I only use Apple Cloth now and I am absolutely satisfied with the seamless experience across all my devices.

Spoken as if you never before used a cleaning cloth.

Is that seriously a thing? I've never ever heard of a scratched screen because of cheap cloth. That doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, but I've wiped plenty of Macbooks over time incl my LG Ultrafine 5K monitor and I've ever never seen (or heard) anything close to an issue with whatever I'm doing it with.

It’s not really an issue in the real world.

I actually need a screen cloth and whilst the Apple one is tempting and I’m familiar with paying over the market rate for Apple products - come on!

Seriously, does anyone have any good alternatives that won’t scratch the screen or leave moisture marks?
Those work great

I am still holding out for the space grey version, notching is worse then not matching colours with my new 14 inch notchbook pro. So please apple if its notching must to ask, a space grey version please.

Clearly it sells. Regardless of MacRumors members internet opinions. I’d bet money 3 out of 5 people bashing it bought one.

Q: if I am planning to make a standard king size quilt with these cloths, how many should I order?

How come it ran out of stock when it is not directly affected by chip shortage?
It’s strategy. Every single year all of Apple’s new products and accessories run out of stock almost immediately upon release (often even before, on preorder day) and remain backordered for the next 3-6 months. It’s no longer believable, after all this time, that Apple makes the same mistake every year of launching new products and accessories with a too limited stock available. Obviously they do it on purpose to make their goods more coveted.

Serious question - anyone with a Peloton use these cloths? It's an amazing screen, but I get crazy scared of using any microfiber simply because I don't wanna scratch it. How good a job does it do from the Peloton screens? (Think I know that answer, just wanna be sure.)
Use a pre moistened lens cleaning cloth, like the ones that come from Bauch and Lomb in individual packages. They're designed to clean glasses and camera lenses, a sweaty peloton screen will be fine.

Rumour has it, there is a Polishing Cloth Pro in the works. Bigger surface, probably with Wifi access or AirTag compatibility. Release date around WWDC or late autumn. But who knows...

Because they are designed for the Apple XDR displays that cost $5k and Apple didn’t predict them becoming a cult item.
Sorry, but I don’t buy that one anymore. Year after year, Apple’s new stuff sells out and remains backordered for months. It’s no longer believable that they didn’t predict any of it becoming a cult item. They intentionally didn’t have many units of the polishing cloth in stock so it would become more coveted. They deliberately made the cloth a cult item, like they do with everything else they sell.

I hope the cloth has good cooling so it doesn't overheat from rubbing too much lol

But then you also stated that you had no idea what to expect. Twice. ;)
FACTS! LOL… I didn‘t know what to expect because I didn‘t see the size in the description. Then I guess I based my expectations on other clean cloth I’ve purchased. Or maybe I‘m…. ?

This story makes me really embarrassed to be an admitted Apple fan.
It’s $20. Who cares if that is outrageous for a micro-fiber cloth. It’s still just $20. Few people are going to miss their rent by buying it. I used a long lingering Apple gift card that I couldn’t use when I bought my M1 MacBook Air. It’s silly but so what? It’s hardly embarrassing.

Yay, placed my order yesterday, got it delivered today, all the way from Kentucky to Texas also. Lolololol, $20 microfiber cloth that doesn’t need liquid cleaning products is all I needed it. /s

By the way i bought it at a discount so
