I doubt this would be the same in Europe as Android is very popular with younger people here. The iPhone is a lot more popular among Americans in general.
all these android users exposing themselves on macrumors
just realize that no one young wants to talk to a green bubble. it's really not that hard.
don't cry to apple for not supporting RCS messaging when google had YEARS to come up with an imessage competitor and they all FLOPPED.

A lot of new camera will send the photo you just took to your phone. You could then text it to the eager friends to see your kids play.
I would think for most sporting events the iPhone with it's wide angle lenses wouldn't get you very close to the action. Wouldn't a telephoto lens work a lot better?
here comes the non-americans thinking their comments on an article about young americans carry any credence
no need to feel superior. just dont want my group chats absolutely slaughtered by the greenies. it's even more embarrassing when you realize some of them willingly paid $1000+ for an android and want to continue ruining group chats for everyone.
What a clickbait article. Who the hell cares what Gen Z will use? Android and iOS are two established platforms, neither are going away.
Honestly, for Android users, it actually is a benefit and acts as a filter. I am a social person, and I have many friends who have iPhones and Androids. We all communicate with each other just fine. Having an Android I was able to be engaged twice, marry once, date plenty of women, move up a corporate ladder and branch out to my own business, and nobody that I have cared to carry on a social relationship with has ever mentioned it. When I would message a girl on an app and we'd transition to text, if she made a comment about the bubble, that was the flag to me to let me know this girl didn't value actual human traits and it was useful. So, I guess in the same way that it "works" for you to let you know I am a social outcast, it lets me know that I probably don't care to form a meaningful relationship with you.I’m not even particularly young, but… I hate to say it, I get it. At this point using an Android is like a cultural red flag. iPhone is, for better or worse, the social phone, and if you want to be a social person, you have an iPhone. If you don’t have an iPhone, it indicates that you don’t particularly care to partake in society, it indicates that you are out of touch with the culture. How can you possibly relate? iMessage is the ecosystem’s greatest strength.
My carrier Canada, the deals use to be even better, 4-5 years ago I picked up iphone 8's for 10$ a month on a 24 month term and got a $400 giftcard, I had 2 lines and upgraded both twice. cost me 240$ x 4 plus tax but I got 1600$ in Walmart gift cards. Unfortunately that loophole closed, the last upgrade before the loophole closed was my S10E in 2019, after the S10E I went back to iOS in 2021.Where did you find prices like that?
Trust me dandy, nobody cares to be in your group chats.here comes the non-americans thinking their comments on an article about young americans carry any credence

this article is about american young peopleIn Europe WhatsApp is the king of messaging and you’ll find most iPhone users use it for group messaging. The green bubble thing is an American trend I think as I’ve never heard of it being looked down upon. iMessage is of course used, but not to the extent WhatsApp is and especially by young people. It’s also a much better messaging app for groups which is why it’s popular, plus Android uses it too.
found the android user 🤣Trust me dandy, nobody cares to be in your group chats.
I would say that it is Apple that is screwing over group chats by their refusal to integrate RCS into Messages.💯 only outdated people disagree
a $100 used iPhone 6S in 2023 is a lot more respectable than a new Galaxy S23. imagine spending $1000+ and still screwing up the group chats with your ugly green bubble.
I would say that it is Apple that is screwing over group chats by their refusal to integrate RCS into Messages.
Also, a Galaxy S23 is miles better than a 6S. LOL I cannot believe that someone is this brainwashed.
nah, google had years to come up with a viable competitor and now they need apple to bail them out with RCS
can you airdrop me that photo on a galaxy s23? "sorry can u give me ur email instead"
can you facetime me? "sorry here's a google meet link"
can you stop breaking the group chats? "sorry can we use whatsapp instead"

Ok, but what if you kept the phone for 4 years? I've got a 12 pro and I'm thinking of skipping the 15pro even. We will however upgrade my wife's 11 pro this year. I've found these pro phones really hold up. Also, I spend a lot more money per month on my cell plan vs the phone itself. Phone hardware even at iphone pro levels isn't really that much $$. It's like when people try to price shop on printer paper when their ink/toner costs a lot more per page no matter what. You're saving money in the wrong place.Ok so you can afford to break 2 android handsets then
I usually run on a TCO costing for devices anyway over 24 months
(initial_cost - resale_value) / 24 = monthly_tco
iPhone 13 Pro 256Gb (mine): (1338 - 550) / 24 = £32.83/month with resale and AC
iPhone 13 Pro 256Gb (mine): (1338 - 0) / 24 = £55.75/month with write off and no AC
iPhone 13: (838 - 300) / 24 = £22.42/month with resale and AC
iPhone 13: (699 - 0) / 24 = £29.13/month assuming write off and no AC
Pixel 6A: (277 - 85) / 24 = £8/month
Pixel 6A: (277 - 0) / 24 = £11.54/month with write off
Honestly I've got to ask myself: Am I getting 4.1x the value from my iPhone 13 Pro vs a Pixel 6A every month. The answer is probably no.
If the Apple device was HALF the current price it'd be a no brainer.
If I sell my entire Apple portfolio of stuff at the moment and get AppleCare refunds, looking at Excel, I will get a return of £4960 in cash. Spend £277 on a Pixel 6A, I'm up 4463. I already have a PC, discussed in another thread which is a nice Lenovo Neo 50s desktop i5-12400 (which I can upgrade to a 13500) which I upgraded to 16Gb of RAM (it'll take up to 64Gb) and a 1TB SSD (which outperforms my MBP) for total £536, and use my old 4K 27" monitor I used with my M1 Mac Mini.
What do I lose? Apple Photos. I use Lightroom anyway. Apple Music. Works on windows and Android anyway. Blue Bubbles? Everyone I know uses WhatsApp.
Come on Apple you're taking the piss with these prices.

Also, keep in mind that your android phone is subsidized by an obfuscated business model. Android itself is "free"; however Google makes a lot of money on it. I find Google operates like a tick. They try to sneak and and suck your blood in a way that you won't notice. Who cares how much Android costs as long as you can't feel it, eh? I've noticed that google now tricks people into using up all their storage via their very easy to use drive app--but then it's actually quite difficult to reverse this. Many people I know just buy the storage rather than go through the headache.
Lastly, I wouldn't care if it did cost more. It's worth more. Would you cut your living standard in half just because it reduced your costs by 4x? I think at some point, you have to realize that living better costs disproportionately more. You can't play the numbers game with everything.
Sorry My Canadian carrier, I was with Koodo now I'm with VirginThere's a carrier called "Canada", or you mean a carrier in Canada?

I'm not putting google on trial for charging for cloud storage. I'm putting them on trial fort he way they do it. The people in my example who now pay for storage only do so because it locked their e-mail. They didn't even know that their e-mail used the same storage as drive/photos. If it was separate, they'd never have paid. They didn't even care about putting their photos/files on google drive. It's a way Google has tricked people. I don't think there's a scenario where Apple does this. With 4 years and AppleCare you increase your risk exposure. So the moment the AppleCare is up you can at any point incur the entire device's cost again.
My call plan is £10 a month (21GB data, 5G, Unlimited calls and SMS). That's fairly insignificant.
Regarding your business model, this is exactly what all cloud storage providers do. It's the same with Apple, Microsoft, AWS, Azure, everything. If you want cloud storage it costs money.
As for living standards, it takes a lot to do an actual critical evaluation of living standards. What really improves your living standards? Does a singular device or technology really improve it? I can't find any evidence that it does. At best it increases convenience and status, but as for anything really meaningful, nope. What it does is take capital away from things that do improve your living standards such as security and experiences.
