Since its announcement, the Pro Display XDR has been the butt of multiple jokes as Apple is charging $4,999 for the display, and an extra $999 for its stand. The need for a specific Apple-designed cleaning cloth isn't likely to help the situation.

This is comedic gold.

What situation? Consumers might purchase these, but they are 100% not marketed for consumers. We should start complaining about the price of 757s. Some consumers buy those, but can you believe the $100M price tag? Outrageous!

When I make an expensive purchase, I want to make sure I know how to take care of it.
A 757 is huge and flies! And you can use whatever you want for cleaning it :)

Damn.....Apple should at least include a pack of cloths. Charging for a replacement is a joke. Since the stand is $1k, I think the clothe will be $100.
Did Apple say they will be charging for a replacement?

Now I have an extra reason to tell clients to STOP TOUCHING MY SCREEN... Not that it will stop them.

Can someone tell me why anyone who doesn’t own or is it planning to buy this specific display should care about this? This article seems more about getting clicks and snarky comments from people who are never going to own this display.

I don't think the cloth will be hideously priced. Remember: they sell AirPods ear-tips for only a few dollars. Apple seems to be fine when selling replacements for the really tiny things.

I am no Apple basher but even the most ardent Apple fanatic on this site has to see the comedic side to this and how ridiculous this has become (unless some part of their brain is missing).

Sure, the display technology can be justified somehow but the $999 metal stand and now the cloth really crack me up
