One difference, people that use Microsoft or any other popular products don't go around bragging about how much money the company makes and high fiveing each other over the amount of money the company makes. That is not normal.

Do you do cartwheels when your power company makes a big profit? Do you applaud them when they raise their rates because they supply you with such great electricity? How about the supermarkets? Do you like to pay higher prices too? Just curious.
The awesome thing here is that you're not forced into buying Apple products! No one is making you and if you feel that they charge too much you can take your business elsewhere.

Everyone likes to see their "team" win; just like those who come here to tout Android's newest device or activation numbers/market share.

This profit has allowed Apple to build the iPad at a pricepoint so low that competitors have trouble matching it. I guess Apple created cheaper tablets for everyone as every other manufacturer wants to come in at the same price. Look, Apple helped people get cheaper products!

ROFLMAO! Since I don't drink the Kool Aid I'm a hater!! Oh, you forgot to call me a troll too, that is what anyone who criticizes Apple is usually called here. Most can't see the forest because of the trees.

No, you're definitely a troll. You come into a thread and only say negative and sarcastic things about Apple; the very definition of a troll. Especially when people refute your points and you just move to the next thread to repost the exact same thing.

Except that these amazing products don't even cost Apple 50 cents on the dollar to produce. They just sell them at huge markup and people cheer about the huge profits. Apple gets $700 for every iPhone it sells, no matter who sells it. And it costs them less than $350 to make.
You think that Apple should become a charity? I don't understand why it bothers you what Apple decides to charge. Don't agree with it, don't buy it. However, the iPhone price range is in line with other high-end smartphones, no?

Do you really think it is the new user that iOS has attracted that has led to this mentality? Or is this forum composed mostly of high schoolers?

I am curious how old you are. I have a hard time picturing a grown man or woman dedicating so much time to a forum for a company they dislike.

*Can you show me one post I have made touting another companies products? Or talking about another company that I thought was better? Thanks.
I still don't know anyone who is happy that their supermarket or electric company charges extra and celebrates their huge profits. Unless you're a stockholder.

*I guess you never bother to read my serious posts where I speak highly of Apple products, especially the MBA and MBP? And some of them are even in threads in the news forum.
It's no nice calling me a troll. I have feelings too. :D

*Agreed. The subsidized iPhone price is the same as most other high end phones. I don't think that they should become a charity either. I merely pointed out that each product they sell has a much bigger markup than their competitors. They could sell some of their products for less and gain an even bigger market share without sacrificing quality or service.

When did I say that I didn't like any Apple products or own any? I think my consistent view in the news forum has been the irrational fanboy behavior.

I'm 6 and I'll be starting first grade in September. I'm actually a child protegy so it throws you guys off when I post. :D Some of you take this stuff way too seriously.

Some kind of prodigy you are. The kind that can't even spell the word correctly. Also, a prodigy is already a wonder child, so a child prodigy is a pleonasm.

Nah, I'm just kidding here. ;) Carry on...

You don't know much about the Optimus S, I see.

Well just looking at the info on the www.iwirelesshome.com site and the Optimus wiki site, I think I know all there is actually, the internet is full of info these days.

As someone else said, you basically have something similar to a much older iPhone, if that. I had a G1 (1st Android phone) and this is barely an upgrade. I now have a Nexus S.

It's cool you don't want to be locked into a contract or pay a lot for a phone, but really comparing a low end plan + a low end phone to the iPhone 4 is silly.

If all you need is the basics, of course you can save a lot of money. But a lot of iPhone and Android users want to actually be able to talk a lot and use data for more then just checking their email.

I have a 20-25% company discount for Sprint/Verizon/Att and I still find the prices high, but I pay because I want to get more.

In San Diego we have Cricket Wireless which is the cheapo none contract carrier that I believe uses Sprint's network. They actual have decent Android phones, but still you have to deal with the bad coverage that comes with paying less.

Going back to the topic for this thread, it's not Apple's fault that other companies are willing to let their products be given out for free. If you have a decent product and people are willing to pay for it, you are doing well. It makes no sense to spend so much money on actually getting a phone to the carrier, just to put it on sale for $0.

I imagine we will start to see fewer phones from each OEM and they will start to focus on a few higher quality devices. Covering low/mid/high end markets, instead of 10+ phones every year with only half or less actually selling. More along the lines of the samsung galaxy line, instead of all the random phones being pushed out.
