Some coder is most certainly being hung up by their thumbs at Apple Park right now ?

Understandable skepticism: https://github.com/apple-oss-distributions/dyld/commit/efc0f783337da1fc0e61f4929ac498f5bce7d319

But this confirms 5c9192436bb195e7a8fe61f22a229ee3d30d8222 was actually the last commit on the main branch yesterday: https://web.archive.org/web/20220208052836/https://github.com/apple-oss-distributions/dyld

So this is legit: https://github.com/apple-oss-distri...1f22a229ee3d30d8222/common/MachOFile.cpp#L578

I do hope a great effort will be made on VR gaming.
Same. Though Apple's track record with games has me a little less confident in that spect fo the experience. Happy to be wrong.

Just this past weekend at our neighbors, I tried Oculus for the first time. Have zero interest in anything Meta, but it was pretty fascinating. When we got in the car, my 11 yo was ready to order a set. Has talked abut it every day since. I said Apple has something in the works (which saying that to a kid is even dumber than normal). But like an 11 yo, he wants things now. Anyway, I'm super interested to see how Apple approaches this whole segment. Should be interesting.

OMG this is horrible. How come people would prefer this to actually see each other faces? Like human features interactions. How could anyone have a proper dialogue if I can't see someone reacting to what I have said?
That’s the thing about it. They didn’t prefer this. Carmack knows this and have been vocal about how much it sucks.

However, with full tracking you can easily capture all gestures and emotions on people and the tech to do this in a small consumer-grade product will be here by next year. With improvements coming in the future.

Maybe flat 2D videos of people aren’t the best. Then again most people prefer voice calls over video calls and the same can be said about texting over voice calls. VR is a step beyond video calls IMO, it’s just that the tech isn’t here and won’t be here for a few more years.

iOS = iPhone
iPadOS = iPad
macOS = Macbook
watchOS = Apple Watch
tvOS = Apple TV
realityOS = Apple Reality ?

What kills me is I'm sure they still own the iSight trademark.

VR will be just another touchbar, they will try to convince you of it to make more sales but its a solution with no problem. VR never worked.

As for AR I hardly see it picking up, maybe it has its uses in industrial places like training or something but on consumer level no one showed us that AR is the better way of doing things

My expectations are pretty low for a new "RealityOS" from a company that can't even self recognize issues with their own browser (Safari)
