And the Apple TV 4.0 isn't even released yet.
Well done Apple! Just as a word of caution... since the majority of your sales are iPhones, don't mess it up and keep innovating.

One doesnt really exist outside of the USA (or the UK), the second struggles to compete (but is a brand new product and only second to Spotify in paid subscriptions), the third is a hobby (except they just released new hardware and an App Store, that thing that made the iPhone so successful) and the fourth doesn't exist (R&D doesn't count as diversifying. You just pull a product out of your butt one day...that's diversification.)

Fixed.

true, they TRY to diversify, but after all these years, it's still not reflected in market share, profitability, revenue...THAT'S the problem

You have to plant seeds before you can harvest the crop.

Be positive, you'll do fine holding your AAPL shares right? So don't fret :)

Tim Cook prevails over the Haters...

Time to let go of the incessant frequent references to Jobs.

It's Tim's Apple Now, his numbers speak for themselves.

I'm happy for Mr. Cook

We've seen this pattern before: "Sales at Apple increased from $800 million to $8 billion under Sculley's management"

Sculley didn't have Jobs' "vision thing" and neither does Cook.

In my opinion, the iPhone will only go away, when it gets replaced by a new product (category). The iPod didn't go away, because people didn't like it anymore. It went away, because it got replaced by the iPhone.
Yes I agree. The iPhone will be replaced by the "Wearble", currently in the form of the Watch.

The iPad and MacBook will eventually come together, and the Wearble will be able to use that display as screen. If people on the go actually need to see something larger than the current watch display and can't rely on Siri to speak it to them, there will likely be flexible panels that slip into the pocket with what I assume will still be government issued IDs.

I can't imagine any of this happening in the foreseeable future (~10 years) and anything beyond that is just a fools errand to speculate.

These numbers are staggering and colossal!
No wonder Apple rules the Tech World!

Wish they do something about investing in America to help lower the alarmingly rising unemployment rate... And take up some key initiatives in poorer countries of Africa & Asia as part of Corporate Social Responsibility! Just saying...

:apple: :apple: :apple:

If Apple would just release the freak'n Skylake already, I can contribute to that sum!! What's the hold up???????two months to go! Everybody else has it now and smarty pants Suface4 is bragging about being so much better??? Just get the Skylake laptops and Macpro out their!! Geeeeeeez!!!!

It's already diversifying you just aren't paying attention.

Apple Pay

Apple Music

Apple TV

Apple Car

The first three probably wont even make 10% of revenues even if they all took off.

If we're looking at something big that can replace the iPhone, then certainly an Apple Car. But it remains to be seen if it even exists.

It's difficult to replicate the iPhone. You need to find something that will sell in the millions that people need to own...not want to own. An unfortunately, I don't think the Apple Watch is it.

My concern with this, is a huge portion of what is keeping Apple going, is only the iPhone. Granted IMO it's the best mobile phone in the market, all things being equal, it will soon meet it's end. All things are like that. Even I as an Apple device lover can grasp this.

Question is, what is Apple going to do to diversify it's products?

And what % of Google earnings is search? >90%. And no one is complaining.

Stop the nonsense and enjoy the ride.

Why do you need them to? It encompasses iPod, Apple Watch, accessories, cables, etc....
Because everyone wants to know how the Watch is doing. Looks like Apple's "Other" category grew by 1% since the 3rd quarter earnings report, if the numbers I"m seeing elsewhere are accurate. Went from 5% of the total earnings to 6% of the total earnings, and that has to be driven almost exclusively by the Watch. And that's up 2% year over year, and 1% from the previous quarter. So it looks like the Watch may be responsible for close to a steady 1% quarterly growth of the "Other" category, so theoretically 4% growth by March?

But keep in mind the Other category included a major iPod Touch release which likely led to a huge spike by anyone who's been holding out for a new one. It also includes the TV which got a huge spike from the price drop. It also includes Apple Music which would have had 6 million subscribers pay up during this quarter, as well as ap store downloads, MP3s and everything else. So there's a lot of other things to dilute the watch.

The first is expanding, it will be in most developed by the end of next year or the year after. This will be long before iPhone sales stagnate.

The 2nd is actually doing pretty well, not bad for a service that's only just launched.

The 3rd is just about to release it's next version, it is clearly becoming more than just a hobby.

The 4th, well I'm still not convinced that it exists.
