If it's a direct line to Apple's big guns, it's official news here. Snoop Dogg isn't part of the macrumors.com agenda. Forstall is directly related to it.

Yeah. But, I find it pretty telling that Steve had Scott get the Twitter account and not Jony. You don't want the 'dumb one' to have direct access to customers.

I hope they don't make Scott take the fall for the design mistake. His software is superb.

everyone tweet about it with the hashtag #forstallFrenzy

start it up! get this trending, haha

if it is legit, maybe the verified went away cuz he change some of his info. idk how verified accounts work.

if this is in fact real, it's gotta be the beginning of a pr campaign in regards to iphone's reception problems right? i mean why out of the blue given apple's secretive nature?

Apple has very restrictive policies on how information is disseminated and what/how employees can divulge.

Scott Forstall did not get a Twitter account. This was some fraudster who briefly tricked Twitter account administrators.

i dunno. With the "something big" making the rounds to apple store employees. we may see something big come real soon come out of apple.

Wow, 3856 even w/o the verified. Wonder if we'll hear something about the reception issues tomorrow.

Losing Verified Status is related to him changing his info to reflect iOS. From Twitter's Verified page:
"For security reasons, changes made to your profile result in the loss of the badge. If you've lost your verified badge, just log into your account and re-apply here."
https://twitter.com/help/verified

The fact that he's being followed by http://twitter.com/verified likely means this is a real account.

Apple does not send out bulletins to retail employees for major announcements. The "something big" retail announcement will be something specific to the way retail business is conducted, not new product.

Retail line employees are basically the last people within the organization who are privy to new products. Heck, select journalists under NDA get to see new hardware before most Apple retail managers do.

yeah i didnt think it would be a new product.

ScottApple: "steve suggested a new car wash today."
ScottApple: "we bought it and renamed it iWash"
ScottApple: "this is going to change everything"

ScottApple: " the first time I had my first experience with
iWash it was just blow away. Partly because
my windows were down. "

This could be a brilliant pr strategy. Apple really needs a presence in the social networking arena to tell their story.

Nowadays, almost any rumor, perception, or bit of gossip on the internet can become fact. VERY quickly. The fact that Apple is secretive (about many things they should be secretive about) can also have a downside. There are certainly areas where they can open up.

Since they are now a HUGE company, they are a target. Anything and EVERYTHING they do is scrutinized and second guessed. Since they don't talk, others basically decide what their motives are, and all of this becomes gospel, when its really based on very little.

This is a new problem, and one they need to put an end to quickly. If this is real, it could give them a platform they desperately need within the blogosphere.

A brilliant Apple PR strategy would be news.

Apple corporate PR is one of the truly dysfunctional organizations within that company. Remember, this is the same group that claimed that Steve was taking aspirin for a viral infection or some similar piece of contrived B.S.

Katie Cotton is probably one of the most moronic high-tech executives working in the 408 area code. She can't even lie effectively; her stories are ludicrously transparent. She's one of the greatest risks to increasing AAPL shareholder value at this time. A liability to AAPL shareholders, not an asset.
