Well, it's fake. The nano shots are lifted directly from colorware.com ... so you can dismiss this as complete bunk.

nice find! I hope those arent just some stickers avialable by some third party company

edit: Read the bottom part. Looks like exactly what it is. Thirs party stuff

I'm not getting my hopes up for a true iPod video tomorrow, but it would be very nice and unexpected. It's just that the rumors for it have been very light lately. If anything regarding the 5G iPod happens, it would be larger capacities and a new feature or two.

I would love to be proven wrong, though. :)

(I just can't imagine Apple holding a press event for a movie store. There has to be more.)

powerbook G5

Dude... that is so last generation.

Anyway, is anyone else excited about what Apple's new Movies application will look like (if there is one)? I can't wait to see how it looks. I'm hoping for a very cool movie theater-like GUI.

This Picture is DEFINITELY fake.

•Look at the edges of the girl in the picture. It's blurry--Result of poor masking in photoshop.
•Look at the girl's hair in front of the "poster"--parts are floating from nowhere, again from terrible masking.
•The "poster" itself has no sort of glare on it at all.

This is poor photoshopping and it saddens me that anyone fell for it.
did anyone mention the inconsistent color scheme of the nanos? all red, all pink, and then the green one has a black scrollwheel? awful fake.

Mate, the poster is not a fake. It's an ad for Colorware - a company that specialise in custom colours on electronics including the iPod and various Macs.

(already established as fake, but I have to say this:)

Yeah, because of course Apple wouldn't do something crazy like have inconsistent color schemes....

If the news from the press is true that only Disney signed on this is going to be pathetic. Why even launch now, its going to make Apple a laughing stock. Something doesn't make sense... and if that is a fact that the damn studios wouldn't give a little then this GREED is going to kill this country. SAD DAY TOMORROW.

Didn't the iTunes Music Store start with only a few TV shows onboard? Exactly. Things like this take time. This is Apple we're talking about. Steve knows what he is doing.

Dude... This has been a long-running joke on the MacRumors forums. Everytime a new annoucement comes someone suggests it is the PowerBook G5. I still find it quite funny..

Exactly. Look, this is what we're going to have; you're going to have Disney and maybe some smaller studios on the Apple service with more reasonable pricing, and then you're going to have the rest of the studios on Amazon's service with pricing equal to the DVD's amazon sells (because Amazon nor the studios want to sell them for less than what a DVD costs).

You're going to end up with something where the Apple model, even with fewer options, ends up looking more appealing.

pointblank is exactly right; the iTunes Music Store started off selling only a handful of TV shows (I think just 4 shows). I'll admit at the time it seemed sort of lackluster to me (only four shows? only a handful of episodes of each?). But more people have jumped on board once they saw that Apple had it right. Meanwhile, what have we heard from other things like Google Video's TV shows for download? Not much.

Granted, we don't know much yet about what Apple's pricing will be, whether they'll have a rental option, etc.

just a little more weak evidence

Lemme throw in another possible piece of evidence. Most shows are on summer hiatus. Two (that are done in HD) are not. They are Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. (If you guys know of other ones drop the names). iTunes has not posted new episodes of these shows since Episode 6. Episode 8 just aired last week. Perhaps they are being delayed so that new higher resolution versions can come out for the new iPod. Again, if my theory is correct any other currently airing HD shows should have had their episodes' release delayed on iTunes for the past 2-3 weeks. Takers?

I've noticed the same thing, but in Apple's Movie Trailers section. There hasn't been a new trailer posted since September 1st, which is about the same amount of time as you mention in those TV shows.

YES, I know movie trailers have been available in HD for some time now, but maybe they're holding back waiting for some new format [possibly a newer, better form of compression] or some new delivery method, or some new presentation method, so that there are a slew of new trailers to watch with their fancy new [something].

Which is great, because I'm definitely in the market for a fancy new [something].

lets hope macrumors finds a way for someone with a smart cell phone to message in notes realtime

Presuming everything happens as it has before, macrumorslive.com will be broadcasting notes from the event, auto-updating every 60 seconds.

It's tops.

im stuck at work without internet access, is anyone here willing to text me if there are any big announcements, like a new ipod? if so, PM me. thanks!

Nice. I could do with a new [something] too.

Here's Apple's email when I asked about the Stargate episodes:

Dear Chuck,

I'm sorry that you have not received your newest episodes of "Stargate SG-1". I thank you for letting us know that has still not been updated yet.

Sincerely,

Not very informative...

NYT article re: video ipod?

Just talked to my Mom who said "so they are coming out with a new iPod tomorrow" and I said HUH?? How do you know?? (she's not exactly into that sort of thing)......she said she read it in a David Pogue article recently in the NYT, she couldn't remember what day. I did a quick internet search and couldn't find it. She didn't remember positively if it said they were coming out tomorrow or soon, or if he was just guessing in the article. Anyway, just thought it was interesting.

touché ;) although it's not inconsistent since the U2 is a special edition model which almost requires a different color scheme. now, if the black nano had a red scrollwheel, THAT would be inconsistent...

• A big disappointment

Considering the iMac and Mini update last Tuesday, the only big disappointment is going to be that Apple is not going to release everything, it is going to release between now and Christmas, tomorrow.

It will (should) be very good to excellent. But there is only so much one computer company can possibly do at once.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to get back to testing the nanobot neural 2007 iBrain design. :D

I want an iTV and a viPod !

http://www.apple.com/movies : currently goes to "403 - Forbidden"
http://www.applecomputer.com/movies : same
http://movies.apple.com : currently goes to "apple.com"
http://movies.apple.com/movies : currently goes to "apple.com/trailers/"

Why couldn't Apple turn an iMac into a Television (black/silver-30"), and stream movies to it using updated Quicktime tech? ...and just use a FrontRow interface? Attach a "video" iPod to the side (sorta like on an iMac) and you can then take your movies with you.

Let's see what Quicktime H.264/5 can really do, right?

Sell more computers, sell more viPods, and sell some iTVs.
