Possibly, but doubtful considering the word/phrase has been around a lot longer than the Showtime cable channel. Additionally, if the service is called "It's Showtime," even less of a problem. However, this event is probably just titled "It's Showtime" and that name will not be branded with what will ultimately be offered. It's just the title they've given the press event tomorrow and nothing more. But that's just a guess.

From Google search, 1st hit:
IT's Showtime

Kentsfield Core 2 Quadro • C2Q At Retail In October • This Is Huge News!

Just in case you overlooked the Kentsfield Thread, Tom's Hardware got hold of a Kentsfield and put it through major benchmarks published yesterday.

Intel's Core 2 Quadro Kentsfield: Four Cores on a Rampage.

I now predict a 85% chance the C2Q Mac will be unveiled no later than mid November.

See my Post Page 7 #168 for photographs and further comments about this amazing news. This drops a BOMB on the entire situation as we perceived it before this report.

Am I the only one who thinks this is huge news?

Yes. That's my point. Thank you for noticing. Perhaps for those who just bought new iMacs as well.

How can this be?

Hahaa...No offense but thats exactly what I was thinking.
Why do you agree with Rich? I don't understand why you don't think this sets a new paradigm? Core 2 Quadro will be for sale in Retail Stores Mid-October. That is ONE MONTH from now. That means Core 2 Quadro systems will begin selling at retail by November at the latest. That's not big news? I was expecting December. Weren't you?

When did you all think Core 2 Quadro systems would begin selling at retail?

Ill take that

My Guess...

Thats cool... looks very not apple in the fonts used but the ideas are all great:)

Lets say that tomorrow Apple comes out with an Airport Express with an HDMI port. Does that mean they can require the display connected to it to use HDCP, or High Definition Content Protection? In that case, would there be some displays, those without HDCP that would not be able to play the movies? Or would the HDMI Airport Express be limited to streaming only those movies that do not require HDCP?

Don't the new HD DVDs use HDCP? If so, then if someday I could put a BluRay drive in my computer for playing HD movies, the HDMI Airport Express would need HDCP in order to stream those movies. Or would the HDMI Airport Express not be able to stream BluRay movies?

But if the HDMI Airport Express was unlimited, so that it could stream movies that were HDCP or not HDCP, downloaded movies or HD DVD or BluRay movies, then since the Apple stand alone displays are not HDCP compliant, then HDCP movies would not be playable on them.

So isn't that a reason to possibly see new Apple Displays tomorrow, HDCP compliant with built in ISight and infrared remote compliant?

Just a thought.

I dont see the point of the movie rentals, I do not believe they can compete with a 2 to 4 dollar rental at BlockBusters.
I also don't see the point of buying a movie that has to be played from a specific computer when a physical DVD can be placed on any computer and on any standard DVD and can be lended to friends for them to watch, and on top of that cost about the same amount.

What am I missing here? Why people want it so bad, I don't understand.

I want it for the rentals. If they let me rent a movie for less than $5 and good for a week streamed to my TV, Im all over it. I pay $12 to Netflicks right now, and only watch one or two movies a month. Id save money and time. besides I can pick what ever movie I am in the mood for - with Netflicks, sure I have a choice, but what ever they send me I have to watch or send back to get another one. Sometimes Im just too lazy to drive to Blockbuster... or its late at night etc...

So if I read this correctly, for you is the ability to select the movie at a moment notice and the convinience of 7/24 store open. Hard to say how long the download will be good for. But at BlockBusters is 2 to 5 days for the 2 to 4 bucks.

Hope it works for you and that tomorrow you get all you want and more.
Thanks for explaining your situation.

I agree, if the price is right, and they provide a mechanism to play the movie on my HT setup down stairs, with 5.1 surround (DD or DTS), and at least 480P quality, I would probably use it once in a while.

I do use netflix a lot, so I get my monies worth there, and I wouldn't stop using it. The itunes movie rental would only be if I really wanted to see something right now. (minus the download time of course)

If the rentals, however, don't meet my video/audio requirements, then I will pass.

How long for Apple Stores?

How long does it usually take from the day a new Apple product is revieled and it appears in Apple Stores?

I'm wondering if I should order my new touchscreen iPod online with fast shipping or wait (however long) until they show up at the Apple store. :p :D

Depends

It depends, sometimes they have new products that moment in an apple store. Why not just head down to the apple store and if they have none, order it on one of the computers in the store:) That way you got your bases covered :p

Most times if they say available now, it is already in the store or the next day. Maybe I am lucky that my store most times have them. However sometimes they don;t seem to know they have it. Once I asked about it after they keynote and they told me they did not have them yet, I came back an hour or two later and asked a different guy and he got me one. Sometimes they are lazy or clueless. There was no delivery in those 2 hours.

I know some of you want a wireless steup.
However I would rather have a media center Mac with cablecard, HDMI, DVD burner, and 2 Ethernet ports. I can connect a large NAS over a private network and the home network on the other Ether port. With the cablecard I can get rid of the cable box so I can change channels directly instead of a cludge to make the cable box change channels. I can then record TV programs and rip DVD's to the NAS and use Front Row to play direct off the cable, the NAS, or anything else being shared in the home network from my other Macs. Now that will be sweet.

large Apple Panel

That's what I want. At least 50" I'll hang it on my living room wall, front row will look good on a large panel display. :)

Sadly I have work and although i have net access even though my boss is an apple man he will not understand my need to look. :p

Tomorrow will be hard to keep focused im so excited.

Anyways merry showtime eve everyone. :p

So whats the time in California?

Its 11:40am in Australia and id like to get my hands on a new 8gb ipod nano!

macbook updates would be nice but i dont see it happening.

I hope they will come out with a ipod video player with a 3.5-4" widescreen.

Whatever we are going to get, will be discovered in a few hours. Then some can gloat and some can cry, LOL.

I can use an iPod Video 3.5 Inch screen size with full PDA capabilities and a phone, but that may wait until summer or longer.

Going full left field just for fun, LOL....... iTablet for designers and photographers, you can edit on the screen with no need for mouse, keyboard, or anything else. You can doodle, write, edit photos, post processing, film editing, etc. Like I said left field, LOL

I put all your replies up on the original Post #302 above with my comments. Do you all get that Core 2 Quadro Systems will begin selling at the retail level in early November?

I am not guessing. I am reporting what Tom's Hardware reported yesterday in that article.
