I remember when the same was said about touchscreens, iPads, Apple watches, etc etc.
Each of those things you mentioned took off pretty quickly, and the iPad was universally acclaimed. I remember people going so far as photoshopping Jobs’ face over Moses, tablets in hand. Not great examples.

If this rumor is correct, it would be like the 7th year Apple pushed AR in some way. It’s a gimmick and would only make sense on a wearable.

Unless maybe Tim has a “one more thing“ up his sleeve…

I love that AR promo, especially the ability to go inside the logo. The tech is really impressive but I’m still not convinced it’s especially useful. And I noticed my iPhone 12 mini got pretty warm when looking at it.

Sheez. Sorry, I'm not a moan-about-everything person, but this is the first ever AR experience I ever tried on my iPhone 12 Pro Max (or anywhere) and it was seriously underwhelming. For some reason the web site put the logo upright on the floor right between my feet and it wouldn't move it so I had to get down on the floor under my desk and lie flat on my stomach to be able to zoom into it! And once I'd done that and only had it active maybe 10 or 20 seconds my iPhone was almost too hot to touch on the back so presumably some massive CPU use going on there.

Maybe I just got unlucky and had some glitch as it was loading but this was definitely not an "oh wow, that's really cool" experience for me.

A few things:
Going through the apple logo and looking back is pretty cool AR.
The moving stars may point to hopefully better night photography.
The music, Weather (Feat Cocoo Noir) by WDL, because of the new weather app in iOS 15?

“Steve , why are you not debugging that kernel issue !! “
Steve: “ oh I am doing this AR thing for the event ״
This is how you imagine things work in Cupertino? Or it’s just your way to vent in an unrelated thread ?
You mean they don't have software engineers creating their marketing materials that they pay marketing firms to do for them? :)

Animoji is a total gimmick but Apple Pay is awesome. I don't pretend that I am representative or anything, but I pretty much use it for 70% of what I buy.
I love Apple Pay. My current phone is an SE 2020, so authentication doesn’t care if I’ve got a mask on. But I also got my first Apple Watch last year, I think I’d sooner use that than a Face ID phone anyway.

If you're talking about the other article today I'm not sure that survey is very accurate.

That may be, but anecdotally I see very few people use it. And I still get oohs and aahs occasionally.

Back when it was relatively new, Kohl’s department store was one of the first to support it. I went in to buy something, used my phone, and the checker didn’t see me do it. She just saw that the transaction had gone through somehow without having to ask me for my card. She was so confused.

Fast forward to today. A few months ago I was again in a Kohl’s. I indicated I was going to use Apple Pay (it’s a little irksome to me when the store clerk has to activate it on the terminal before I can tap)…and the clerk STILL didn’t know what that was. She assumed I meant I was going to launch the Kohl’s app and pay that way. Nuh-uh.

(The next time I was in, a week later, I didn’t ask. Just whipped out my phone and did it.)

I just went from a 2008 MacBook to an M1 MacBook so I hope they just skip the new MacBook variants altogether for the next couple years.
At least I just said it wasn't interesting to me, your strawman is selfish and petty. I often wonder why online communication always ramps up exponentially, then I read posts like your and I don't wonder.
