Ok so I've been using apples silicone cases since they first came out, I've always liked the quality feel of them, and the bottom cut out never bothered me since I thought it gave off a pretty cool contrast between the color of the phone and the case color (especially Product Red) against a black iPhone.
We'll move to the iPhone X were I purchased quite a few colors of Apples pricy silicone cases to go with my pricey new phone.
Black is always a great choice, product red, midnight blue, dark olive, and the ever clean looking white for when I'm in full panda mode with my space gray X.
I have no idea what Apple has done here with the materials of these cases for the X, but I think I'm kind in saying they are pretty dam horrible. The material is very different than that of what has been used before. A simple way to describe it would be high quality vs cheap!!!
I noticed after only a day of use with any of the colors except the white that it feels as though the color wears right off and shine begins to show! I thought I was just going crazy! But when I put a fairly used 6 months or so very much used iPhone 7plus product red silicone case next to my brand new iPhone X silicone case the differences scream cheapness. The new X case has a considerable amount of shine coming through, and you can basically see the print of my 2 fingers where I hold the phone almost imbedded into the case, where the older after all it's use still looks and feels new. Same for the black in a big way, the dark olive, and midnight black. All the mid to dark colors show a considerable amount of use and wear in a very short period of time.
In the past, a damp paper towel with a lite whipe across the case would have it looking brand new again? Now it looks as though Apple has changed its materials, as you will be able to see and feel with the Apple logo as it looks to be printed on and you can't feel the raise anymore as you would in the older cases.
It's apparent Apple has gone in a direction of using a lesser material, and to me that's not cool when these cases cost a cool $39 each.
I'm all for charging a premium for a premium feeling product, but I'm not for changing materials and still charging those premium prices. The $39 honestly doesn't bother me, it's the $39 for an inferior product!
