Best Batman movie, ever.

My GF discovered this by accident. She was doing her best Batman voice and went "Hey Computer!" as she sat down at her MB and literally jumped when Siri responded.

My only complaint with Siri... when my mom and I are in the same room and one of us says "Hey Siri" there's like an 80% chance we'll set off both of our phones (we have very similar voices, fun to prank my stepdad with).

I will definitely be watching the Lego Batman movie, but I'm not sure I like the idea of commercial tie-ins like this on Apple services. Still, I dont really use Siri so maybe I shouldnt care, at least on a selfish level. It doesn't exactly encourage me to use it though. I think it would feel less icky if it was a fun cultural reference rather than happening as the movie launches. It's not really that big a deal though. *shrugs*

I don't like the idea of advertising in services such as Siri, but the Batman one isn't really advertising. Its not pushing you to Batman movie trailers or tickets.

Do think its is a slippery slope though, hopefully Apple won't start advertising or using keywords in Siri
The movie was great. If you don't think this is advertising, then I don't think you know what advertising is. This is essentially product placement. Plain and simple. Since I don't use Siri it doesn't affect me. But yeah, it advertising.

Advertisements in Siri now ....... ?

raw

Sorry but that's pretty low.
Not an advertisement. More of a Easter Egg. It's not like Siri is telling you to go see the movie.

Siri is still such a chore to use having to order your words in the expected order and speak intentionally slowly and carefully to get any reasonable response. Alexa in my experience 'just works'. Apple has a lot of catching up to do which is odd to say considering they were mostly the first out of the gate.

Siri only works 1 out of 3 times for me, so I cut my losses and do with it. The entire point of Siri is to save time, when it cost me more time to complete a task, it has failed at what it was set out to do. Time to rethink Siri or a major overhaul.

It used to work pretty well for me, but now it's almost useless. Misses very simple words and cuts me off if I pause for more than half a second. Apple has been lame-o-la lately.

Another reason why I don't use Siri. Eddie Cue must be in charge of it.
How does something like this provide a reason against using Siri?

Seems like it just works for many people. Not that it can't be better or that some aren't having issues here and there.

Well, most people aren't going to say "Hey Computer," so it won't affect them either.

I don't think that's what product placement is, unless you're considering every form of reference to an existing real-life product within a media as that. I also don't really think it is advertising, since Siri emulates other classic and popular AIs through time as a run-on joke, rather than an explicit intention to promote the movie. Especially since only people who have seen it already and think to ask, or I suppose read some news clippings about this change, will actually engage it.

It's a cross promotional product placement. It's an ad. When the movie gives Siri "acting" credit as the Bat Computer and Apple has Siri spouting Batman quips... not sure how you can see it as anything but an ad. I'm pretty darn sure the movie couldn't claim anything about Siri or use it in any form without Apple's approval. Ad.

It seems to me that some people will see it as an ad and that's fine. You would have to go out of your way to read Macrumors and then physically have to tell Siri to bring up the ad for you. I just asked Siri about Ferrari, can you believe it, a friggin' ad came up!!!!!! I real ad right in Siri!!! Oh the humanity, it ruined my day.

I see it more like they will slowly bring Siri up to speed on popular cultural references. Siri actually should know all popular movie lines. If you speak one famous line into Siri from any movie ever made it is great if Siri can bring that reference up. But yeah, that's, just like, my opinion, man.

me: "Siri buy me movie tickets!"
Siri: "Sorry, that functionality was stolen from me after Apple acquired me. Want to go see Lego Batman?"
me: "You can order tickets?"
Siri: "No, Sorry."
me: "What's the point of this advertisement then?"
Siri: "Searching the internet for What's the point of this advertisement then"

The LEGO Batman Movie, released last Friday, features the voice of Apple's personal assistant Siri as Batman's personal computer. Batman's computer works in much the same way as Siri, responding to his voice requests whenever he says "Hey 'puter."

As it turns out, there's a secret tie-in hidden in the iPhone, too. Whenever you say "Hey 'puter" (or "Hey Computer") to Siri, she responds to you as if you're LEGO Batman.

"I am at your service, Lego Batman sir," and "Welcome home, sir. I have your rom coms queued up, sorted by decade," are just two of the multiple humorous phrases Siri shares whenever the personal assistant hears "Hey 'puter."

Apple updates Siri on a regular basis, and this isn't the first time the personal assistant has gained humorous responses ahead of an upcoming event, but it may be the first serious movie tie-in.

Siri was previously updated in August 2016 to offer funny responses to questions about Pokémon Go, and again in September to respond to questions ahead of the iPhone 7's debut.

In addition to the Siri easter egg, there's also a free iOS app that accompanies The LEGO Batman Movie, which was released back in January.

[doublepost=1487134209][/doublepost]I believe the intent is to say "Hey 'puter" like Lego Batman does. It'll work more consistently if you say 'puter.

Oh yeah, adding one quote to a database list sure takes a ton of resources.

You don't think they spent hours in meeting between marketing people to engineering people? If Apple spent less than 10 mins on this. They would have released Mac Pro every year.

Just because it's fun to imagine that and that it could potentially happen (and perhaps might have even happened in some unrelated instance somewhere), doesn't mean that it's the case here just because of that.

If you ask the question: Did you like being in the Lego Batman movie? There are a ton of responses as well.

I try Siri for the most basic stuff like spelling a word or where a phrase came from, and it dumb as can be! The only word Siri knows is "sorry"! I never use it now, just type it into bling or goggle!

Of all the companies, I never thought Apple would use their products to sell advertising.

I actually think this is pretty shocking. If I paid several hundred pounds for a product and it had commercial tie-ins baked into the OS, I'd be pretty pissed.

Not sure what to make of this, but these "tid-bits/hints" whatever u wanna call them, are either kinda stupid, or all a plot to help Apple advertise.

Ya, that's right... i said a 'plot', kinda devilish of me.
