I don't trust iMazing, especially for adding com.DigiDNA.iMazing2Mac.Mini.plist to ~/Library/LaunchAgents.
Little Snitch informed me that iMazing is trying to connect to appcenter.ms Maybe that's why it's working.

Agreed. I recall that calls to "appcenter.ms" were part of Microsoft's new(er) Visual Studio for macOS API for developers that were leveraging MS's SDK as part of their apps.

So, technically non-malicious - nonetheless, those calls are blocked here too, because these damn multi-platform "free" toolkits are too complex/embedded for developers to properly/safely implement, with call-home/metrics-collections/debug-reports, etc, and are typically found to be "leaking".

So, yeah, iMazing is a great app, I bought it, it does what it advertises to do, it makes up for Apple's dropping-of-the-ball on iTunes, and it *is* a potential security hazard.

It needs to download signed IPA files to recover and/or reinstall the iOS apps+data, so it prompts for your Apple/iTunes password. So a desperately forced "trust" is the only way that'll happen! I ended up changing my Apple password before using it, then changed it back afterwards, so I guess it's not really "trust".

Were you able to reuse the previous password? Usually Apple didn't let you reuse an old password
This could be a partial, painful solution but feasible but I still remind everyone that the two factor authentication
is still strong.

I have few apps bought on a different iTunes store that hunt me every time there is an update that I'm interested in.
This morning I did the download directly on an old iPhone just to see it it was worth it to update elsewhere.
Of course I had to enter my other iTunes store pass then I was asked to get the code on a different device
then confirm and then I was able to do the update.

iMazing has the same issue of iTunes that changed recently too,
where if you are not signed-in on your computer with the same login for iCloud it doesn't let you do it.
It's so complicated just how they protect us from ourselves !!😖

I just bought affinity photo app and it downloaded automatically to my iTunes archive! But I can’t download and update manually.

Did you buy it on iTunes or on one of your devices and then was automatically downloaded by iTunes ?
I was able to buy a song but not an app from iTunes

I don't trust Windows, I set up a virtual machine only with iTunes and I will not be using it for anything else.
And I uninstalled Apple's Software Update utility and Bonjour because https://arstechnica.com/information...loit-an-itunes-zeroday-to-install-ransomware/
Without the System? Is it possible?

I purchased on my iPad and it passed automatically
Alas doesn't work for me. Already happened in the past and still today
In iTunes prefs all the radio buttons are checked in Automatically download
But of course iTunes keep pestering with the iOS 13.4 and is downloading it! But not the updates or apps

Split between getting VM Ware, Parallel Desktop or just a cheap Windows laptop...
Then still need to decide which Windows 10. Such a PITA.
None of this needs to happen if Apple is not being such donkeys.

You mean, Time Machine won't run at all or just not backing up that portion?
I've never had any problems with backing up the virtual machine using Time Machine. To the Mac, it's just another bundle. It IS a large item, and when it changes at all, which it does if you are using it, it has to be backed up again. But at least in the case of Parallels or Virtual Box, if the machine is shut down or suspended before Time Machine backs it up, it works fine and can be restored w/o issues. According to Parallels, the only possible problem is if you run the backup while the VM guest is running.

I have absolutely no interest in using Windows for anything...
Only going to get it to install iTune 12.6.5 to keep AppStore in it.
The decision would be based on cost alone now.

I just wanted to share my experience.

I have installed on my iMac Parallels Desktop with a Windows 7 VM on it: I installed iTunes 12.6.5 on it, run the app with Shift-Open, pointed to the iTunes library of the Mac and it very simply recognized it with all Apps, videos, music etc.
I tried updating the app on iTunes on the Win VM and all went smoothly (though a little bit slowly, but it's probably because of the Apple servers); after that, opening iTunes on the Mac all the apps are updated and I can sync all my iDevices.

A little bit convoluted and I still wince at the thought of using Windows, but until Apple gets its head out of its rear end about this subject (if it ever does) I guess it's a reasonable solution.

Have folks here expressed their dismay on https://www.apple.com/feedback?
Has Apple listen to ANYTHING since the first page of the thread?
My money is betting on no. 😩

Lovely!
That means I don't need to hunt down a copy of Windows 10 and VM, since I still have a copy of Windows 7 from my University days!

BTW they blocked iTunes -even the possibility to download the 12.6.3 already sometime ago I remember but because a lot of people complained they got it back
I wonder what they are going to do for teachers (Apple Configurator)
and businesses all relying on downloading just from one place.
Of course now everything is on hold because of the virus 😥 but one day we will go back I hope
