I have sync issues between iPhone,iPad and MacBook. Can someone help? Issues are that when syncing between devices itunes is not automatically recognizing which contact was last updated and updating all contacts during sync with the last one that was updated. Say you updated a contact on iPhone or iPad and not MacBook Prothen you sync. The update will after sync will be that from the MacBook and not on device last updated.

You'd be better off starting a new thread. Your question is completely unrelated to this topic and as such may not get the right visibility.

iTunes ipa downloads/updates are working now in Windows, it was probably a temporary problem related to iCloud Down for Many Users, Causing 'The Application You Have Selected Does Not Exist' Error [Update: Fixed]
What would a day be without an Apple issue? :)
Wish iTunes start working again on Mac like before so we don't have to use these temp solutions.
For me a lot of my daily tasks depends upon the whole apple ecosystem, but issues like this are now common on a daily basis and getting use to them now :)
By the way, thank you for coming up with a solutions so we can use still use iTunes version with Apps support with Catalina.

You don't need a script for 10.13.6, just run the installer.

Guess I'll be the 3rd person to ask this question in the last page and a half... what installer and where? Clearly saying 'just run the installer' isn't helping anyone and I must have lost where the instructions are in 19 pages of the thread.

I'm on High Sierra and (10.13.6) running iTunes 12.6.3.6. I can't install Apple Configurator because I don't have the original one and ACII requires a higher OS.

Is t also possible to install iTunes 12.6.5 in High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G12034), can you guide me to the script or installation-process i have to use?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry for the delayed response, only today I had a little time to update my High Sierra installation to Security Update 2020-003. I had iTunes 12.6.4.3 installed, so I downloaded iTunes 12.6.5.3 from https://support.apple.com/HT208079 and tried to install it. First I got this message about the certificate being expired, but the installation continued and was successful.

Starting iTunes, I got “An unknown error occurred (-42408)” then, when I tried to log in, I got “An unknown error occurred (-50)” and again (-42408). I was unable to log in after multiple attempts. On another account on the same installation that was logged in, iTunes displayed the same -42408 error message.

I’ve tried to use the script from post 384 (https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...tible-with-macos-mojave.2143244/post-28399645) to change iTunes 12 to 13, but it did’t make any difference.
Did you have better luck?

Let’s be honest, all I did is some fancy copy-paste and text edit :) I have an idea about solving the current problem, but it’s beyond my abilities. I’ve asked for help, but so far no reply. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...e-iphoto-or-itunes-on-macos-catalina.2207898/

In this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/itunes-12-6-5-3-iphone-11-ios-13-4-not-syncing.2229520/ GBstoic posted a solution for the sync issues between iTunes 12.6.5.3 on Windows and iOS 13 devices.

Installing iTunes 12.6.5 vs 12.6.3.6 that I currently have installed resolves the app updating issue? When I attempt to install I receive an error message saying that this version of iTunes is incompatible with my OS (High Sierra)
No. That functionality is totally broken so if you already have 12.6.3 there's no real point in updating iTunes to 12.6.5.
At this point I doubt Apple is going to fix the ability to download apps from the Mac version of iTunes.

Okay, that's why I was confused. Didn't think it would be fixed

Just dug through the storage area and found an old PC running Windows 10.
Wondering out loud if I can download the ipa files from it and then move them to the Mac.
That could save me from buying parallel and another copy of Windows.

First of all you can buy an oem key for couple bucks and you can purchase educational parallel from Apple store.

They would also work.
Question is, would that use up another trusted computer? Guess that is the same if I use the PC...
Anyway, just tried this proof of concept and turns out I can really simply copy the ipa to the Mac and then update the library.
Also just checked the Parallel on Apple's education pricing. $55!!!

Thanks for both.

I knew about aquireing but using my AppleID and a currently "complaint" OS release, then downloading it on my "older" OS Mac (Sierra in my case).

Unfortunately that won't work for me as I don't have another Mac that "current" to make the "purchase", and do not feel comfortable with giving my AppleID out to someone, and SF still has shelter in place so I can't GO to an Apple Store to try to make the "purchase" on one of their machines so.....

I'd love to take you up on your kind offer if you are still willing to shoot me the Zip. As suggested emailing would be a simple solution as it should just go though MailDrop. Alternatively there are a bunch of fileShare online sites and I co0uld try to find one that seems reputable for you to post it. Alternatively I could set up FTP/FileShare drop for you here at home to drop to me. Whatever is easiest for YOU, since you are helping me. Personal pref would be via email as it seems easiest for all and don't have to worry about credentials, and leaving a server up 😀

If you can shoot me a DM I can give you my email or whatever support you need to get it to me.

Thanks again!

--Tom

There is an alternate way to get it directly from Apple

But in case it doesn't work..

Asking everyone : how and where is the best way to share a 67.2 Mb zipped file?

P.s. I 😠 Apple when they do let people down!!

The trick I found PERVIOUSLY when I had to reinstall "classic" iTunes (aka 12.6.x) was to set the date back (same unfortunate solution for installed Xcode additional components if you have to re/install Xcode or reinstall the OS over itself). This will cause a minor bit of confusion in terms of file system dates for a short period as all file mods/timestamps will be a bit askew so best to minimize any apps/services active for personal sanity.

--Disclaimer--
Last time I need to pull this trick was several months ago do your mileage may vary but no reason to expect it wouldn't still work if you have the appropriate files hosted locally and don't have a future version of Mac OS that locks out install.

After many attempts, I’ve successfully installed the Windows 32-bit version of iTunes 12.6.5.3 using Wine in Mojave.
Steps:
1. Install XQuartz - XQuartz-2.7.11.dmg from https://www.xquartz.org
2. Install Wine Stable 5 winehq-stable-5.0.pkg from https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/macosx/download.html
3. Download Mono wine-mono-5.1.0-x86.msi from https://dl.winehq.org/wine/wine-mono/5.1.0/
and Gecko wine-gecko-2.47.1-x86.msi from https://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko
4. Launch /Applications/Wine Stable.app
5. In the Terminal window opened, install Mono & Gecko with
wine msiexec /i ~/Downloads/wine-gecko-2.47.1-x86.msi
wine msiexec /i ~/Downloads/wine-mono-5.1.0-x86.msi
6. Install iTunes 12.6.5.3 32-bit version for Windows from https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208079 with
wine ~/Downloads/iTunesSetup.exe
7. Start iTunes with
wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/iTunes/iTunes.exe
Enjoy iTunes with a functional App Store on macOS Mojave!
Notes: There is no confirmation on the successful installation of Mono & Gecko. After pressing Finish in the iTunesSetup.exe installation, enter ctrl+C in Terminal to stop it.
If wine crashes, use killall wineserver and killall wine-preloader, then launch again /Applications/Wine Stable.app
If you prefer Homebrew, XQuartz can be installed with brew cask install xquartz and Wine with brew cask install wine-stable.
I had no success with PlayOnMac on Mojave or Catalina. CrossOver 19.0.2 can be used in Catalina and probably Mojave too. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/itunes-12-6-5-3-on-macos-catalina-10-15.2184518/post-28569328

Apple software engineering department just gave a reply to us: We are aware of a problem like this but we don’t have information about whether it’s an interference from the upside, an expiration of an SSL certificate or a temporary error. We will research and reply in the following days.
Have you followed up with Apple on your support ticket to get iTunes working to download apps? What's the latest news?

Nothing bad can happen: I use Configurator and I still put all the apps downloaded over iTunes ..it's like iTunes updates them all and then sync with my devices 😊
After crawling all 19 pages of the thread one more time, decided to bite the bullet and start using configurator.
Not as bad as I thought the learning curve would be.
One downside is, have to do one app at a time and have to move fast.
Otherwise, the ipa file disappears on its own from the cache within minutes. Turns out that is because those apps were not on this specific device and are installing on it. The ipa is removed from cache once it is installed.
This is fixed by using an iPod touch running iOS 9 where basically none of the apps would install.
Thank you for the suggestions and help.

Finally, i've managed to install iTunes 12.4.3 (beloved version with artist covers etc.) on Mojave 10.14.6 using scripts from bogdanw. Thank you so much, buddy! 🙌 👍 It works almost (see below) perfect. I'am kinda surprised ))
I went a little further and found out that you need to change only two files (and apply the second script, to change iTunes.app plists) to get it to work in Mojave! The files are: CoreADI.framework, CoreFP.framework. That's it. Files from iTunes 12.6.3/12.6.5 will work too.
When you install using patched iTunes.pkg it can kill ability to log into iCloud (faced this issue), because "accountsd" process is using the same iTunesLibrary.framework as iTunes, and it's crashing when there is a wrong file. Also it breaks AppleMobileDevice/AppleUSBEthernetHost kexts to communicate with iOS devices (crashes on device connect).
So i reverted all files to original, except those two, and now everything works fine.
The last one big problem i need to fix - not working keyboard (and software) controls. Buttons "play-pause/track" stopped working :( And software controls, like 1TuneInstructor doesn't work either...
Could someone help me to find out how to get it work again? But honestly, i think it's not possible any more, because old iTunes uses different frameworks and libraries for controls.

The reason why they killed this off is because 100mbps internet and faster is now standard in America. Hell theyre are many people with gigabit connections. I would have one myself but I don’t want to stop using my Surfboard modem and AC Time Capsule. I also really don’t need a connection that fast for just myself.

I know many people live in areas where this isn’t offered (some can’t even stream Netflix!) but Apple is a company that forces people to adopt new standards faster than others.

Which version of America are you living in again? LoL. Most of my rural friends aren't getting those lightning fast speeds you are getting in the cities.

And sorry Apple's adoption isn't going to force cities or small rural places to get broadband. It's going to have to be the state/fed govt.

I know it's a pain in the neck when you need to add an app with Configurator, even if it is already on your device but Configurator is blind sometimes 🙄
The quickest solution , before it disappears , is to have the folder open on the desktop and as soon as it's downloaded be ready to move the folder Assets
Screen Shot .jpg
(it contains the folders with your "new" app)to the desktop.
Configurator will stop and ask you what to do. Don't answer yet , copy the app over the opened iTunes windows update and you are done. App will be replaced , then you can skip-stop and just quit Configurator and then sync with iTunes.
The explanation is longer than what you need to do.

And an issue started yesterday.
I am not seeing the newly released updates for the apps.
For example, Firefox released version 27.0 yesterday. Configurator 2 only got 26.0.
Gas buddy released 6.30.0 today and Configurator 2 only got 6.29.1.
DuckDuckGo released 7.47.0 today and Configurator 2 got 7.46.3.
I tried signing out and sign back in. Still seeing the same.
The only way I can see the new updates are signing out from the US account and into a foreign region account, then switch back to the US account.
Am I the only one seeing this?

Have you tried to delete the full Library folder inside the k36bk folder and restart configurator? There was a similar issue sometime ago, Apple servers were the culprit and
sure enough Configurator is not the best Apple app....😖

I shall try that once another app has an update. My OCD kicked in and all the apps were autopilot updated. 🤣

Yeah, over 70 something apps all updated within one night when I started to use Configurator. OCD autopilot kicks in quicker as the night progresses.
@katbel
Deleting the full k36bk folder (even without clearing the trash bin) and restart Configurator 2 fixed the issue. That was a good call. Thank you. :)
